Gabrielle Dennis Brings Nightshade to Luke Cage
There will be some new, but familiar faces around Harlem when Luke Cage returns for its sophomore season later this fall. According to published reports, actress Gabrielle Dennis will be joining the comic book series as a recurring character. The former Rosewood beauty will be taking on the role of Doctor Tilda Johnson, a brilliant holistic practitioner who spends her downtime as Nightshade, a super-villain who uses her genius-level abilities to wreak havoc on her enemies.
“I can’t wait for audiences to see the compelling storyline we’ve put together for Nightshade,” executive producer/showrunner Cheo Hodari told fans via Twitter. “Gabrielle brings charm and smarts to a very complicated role; she will be a wonderful addition to our already magnificent cast.”
In addition to Luke Cage, fans can also check out Gabrielle in the upcoming film Girls Trip, due to hit theaters on July 21st. She and Luke Cage himself, actor Mike Colter, have supporting roles in the Will Packer-produced dramedy.
And just a little FYI about the character of Nightshade, she’ll also be appearing in the big screen adaptation of the Black Panther comic book series. However, it will be actress/singer Nabiyah Be who will be taking on the role.
