Gabrielle Union Talks Fitness with Health Magazine

GABRIELLE UNION COVERS HEALTH MAGAZINE

Gabrielle Union Covers Health Magazine

Actress Gabrielle Union is covering the September edition of Health magazine. For her cover story, the 45-year Being Mary Jane star shares her workout regimen, how haters help keep her motivated, dealing with body-shamers online, and even a few tidbits from her upcoming coffee-table book We’re Going to Need More Wine.

According to Gabrielle, working out does not come natural to her. “I work out with a trainer for the most part, she tells Health contributing editor Alison Prato. “I do know how to train myself, but I’ve come to realize that if someone’s not waiting for me, I do not feel obligated to get up.”

Gabrielle went to discuss how online body-shamers and even haters in her own industry, help keep her motivated to look her best. “I’m not one of those people who say ‘I can’t start my day without a good work out.’ Nope. I can actually start my day beautifully, sleeping in, eating some pancakes. But I work out because I have a family history of diabetes and heart disease. Knowing what I can do to prevent that has been a huge thing. And then there’s my job. Knowing that there are people who cannot wait to circle your fat and draw an arrow to it keeps me in the gym.”

Gabrielle closed out her interview by providing details about her upcoming book We’re Going to Need More Wine. “It has so many crazy stories,” she shares. “Not just about my career and personal life, but the small changes and nuances that happen once you become famous. I have this tampon story I share and how impossible it is to do normal things without attracting unwanted attention. It’s odd having strangers walk up to you in the pharmacy and say ‘oh, heavy flow this month,’” she laughs.
