Gabrielle Union’s Most Fulfilling Role

Thirty eight year old actress Gabrielle Union is joining the Obama administration- sort of. The brown skin beauty has been appointed by President Obama to work with the National Advisory Committee for Violence Against Women.

For those of you not in the know, Gabrielle was raped and beaten when she was 19 years old and working alone in a shoe store. The actress said the attack left her so disfigured that her own family members did not recognize her when they came to the hospital.

Since then, Gabrielle has worked with quite a few rape organizations, including those that council young men.

On her new advisory position, Gabrielle says it is her “most fulfilling role in life.”

  1. Go Gabby!! It is amazing how she has gotten herself to the point of openly talking about her ordeal and also helping others. That is a hard thing to open up about. Most women feel ashamed.

  2. Wow, I never knew that about her. It’s great that she overcame that.

  3. @John, you’re right. It’s hard to trust and keep on moving after something like that. It’s hard to sleep at night and to even look men in the face. Thank you Gabby for being a strong black women and for making us look good and not like a video hoe.
