Essence Promotes ‘Girls Trip’ Film with Five Covers

Girls Trip Cast Covers Essence Magazine

The ladies of the upcoming Will Packer-produced film, Girls Trip, are covering the July edition of Essence magazine. In addition to their group cover, each cast member, which includes Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Tiffany Haddish, and Jada Pinkett-Smith has a gorgeous solo cover as well.

The collaboration between the film and the magazine is no accident, as one was made specifically to promote the other.

As previously reported, Girls Trip revolves around four friends who reconnect while traveling to New Orleans for the city’s annual Essence Music Festival.

Both events begin later this month, with Girls Trip opening nationwide on June 21st, and the festival kicking off the following weekend on June 29th.

The July 2017 issue of Essence Magazine hits newsstands on Friday, June 16th.

  1. I like some of these women the other ones I don’t know who they are. But my question is what ever happen to Kimberly Elise?? Kimberly is one of the best actresses we have today and yet she is no where to be seen. We have people who couldn’t act their way out of a paper bag like Viola Davis everywhere.

  2. Kimberly starred in the Vh1 original series ‘Hit the Floor’ from 2013-2016. She also starred in the 2016 film ‘Almost Christmas.’ She also runs a pretty dope website and sells her own natural hair care products.

  3. That is odd to say Viola Davis can’t act when she is widely regarded as one of the greatest actresses of this time. Kimberly Elise still works a lot, you just haven’t checked for her.

  4. @Sista I saw ‘Almost Christmas’ and it was a good movie. I never saw ‘Hit The Floor’. I know about her hair care products. @Josefina To me she can’t act. Like Rupaul says she was just in the right place at the right time. The movie ‘The Help’ had Octavia Spencer now that is an actress.

  5. Wow Jason, Viola has been killing acting roles since she came on the screen-scene. I get it that it is your opinion but I’m blown away. Both Viola and Octavia, to me, are amazing actresses.

I first saw/remember Viola as Isaiah Washington’s character’s sister in the movie “Out of Sight”(1998)
That is one of my most favorite films and it has an ensemble cast chock full of talent. Viola had one scene in the entire film and she blew it away. That’s when I became a fan.

But let me stop fangirling over Viola. The covers look great. I look forward to this film. It looks fun. Also, Tiffany Haddish? She’s hilarious.
