The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards just wrapped up and as expected it was a snooze fest. The Grammys have never been known for being all that entertaining, but with performances from Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson and Beyonce I was definitely going to watch. Lady Gaga started things off and I continue to not understand what the fuss is with this woman. She is a mediocre performer a fashion disaster of epic proportions.
The night’s other highly anticipated performer, Beyonce, was also a snooze. My friend messaged me on MSN and his exact words were “wtf was that performance.” I told him I believe Beyonce was so intent on upstaging the night’s other big performers (Gaga and Taylor Swift) that she wound up upstaging only herself. Her performance of ‘If I Were A Boy” was overly dramatic and underwhelming. Her version of “ You Oughta Know” by Alanis Morisette was also a fail. Despite our let down, the audience gave Beyonce a standing ovation so maybe they saw something neither I nor my friend saw. On the upside, girlfriend looked good. Her performance outfit was amazing. Loved her entire look from head to toe.
The Michael Jackson tribute which featured Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Usher, Smokey Robinson and Carrie Underwood was beautiful. Michael’s two children Prince and Paris came out to speak on their father’s behalf and as expected it was an emotional moment.
