It was a family fashion affair Wednesday as Beyonce was joined by her mother Tina, and sister Solange, for the Canadian launch of their junior apparel line, Dereon. Check out the ladies of HOD on the next page, all sporting outfits from the collection.
I have honestly tried to like HOD but haven’t quite been sold on it as of yet. I had hoped the line would incorporate some of what I have seen Beyonce wearing but it does not. I first checked out their site looking for purses but was disappointed with their selection. Beyonce’s most stylish clothes and especially her bags are all made by high end designers. However, if you love Beyonce’s taste in shoes, many of them can be found on HOD website.
After visiting their site again, I realized the reason I really dislike HOD is the same reason why I dislike most urban/hip hop lines. They are too logo obsessed. I remember growing up in New York when it was all about who you wore and having their name emblazoned all over your clothes. This may be cute for children but as an adult I have no desire to walk out of my house with Dereon across my chest. High end fashion designers don’t do that. If you don’t see the tag you don’t know who made it.
Clothing lines aimed at the urban market however would never dream of creating a shirt, jacket, purse or shoe that doesn’t have their logo somewhere it can be seen. Huge logos make clothes look cheap and gaudy. Just look at that mess they have on above. Remove that horrible gold symbol and words Dereon and it many not look so bad. The minute Beyonce walks into the room you know who she is wearing because the dress screams it and that is no not cool, classy or elegant.
You can find additional photos I added of Beyonce at the official Emporio Armani Diamonds launch party.
