Janelle Monae to Star in Amazon’s ‘Electric Dreams’

As previously reported, singer Janelle Monae is set to appear in Electric Dreams, an Amazon-produced anthology series based on the writings of author Philip K. Dick. The sci-fi feature will air ten stand-alone episodes, including one titled Autofac, which will star Janelle as a beautiful android-like character named Alexis.

You can check out the first Amazon-approved trailer for the series above (an aunauthorized copy leaked last month), as well as a summary of Janelle’s Autofac episode below. It co-stars Nick Eversman, David Lyons and Juno Temple.

Society and the world as we know it has collapsed. A massive, automatic factory operates according to the principles of consumerism; humans consume to be happy, and in order to consume continuously, they must be denied freedom of choice and free will. When a small band of rebels decide to shut down the factory, they discover they may actually be the perfect consumers after all.

Electric Dreams is set to become available to Amazon Prime members in 2018. The seies has reportedly already begun to air in the United Kingdom.
