According to newly published reports, Janet Jackson has inked a deal with Lionsgate Pictures to develop and produce a feature film for the company. Janet has recently starred in three Lionsgate films, including “Why Did I Get Married?”, “Why Did I Get Married Too?” and “For Colored Girls.”
Mike Paseornek, president of Lionsgate picture production and promotion, said the studio recognized Janet’s instincts for great stories. “She is a powerful on-screen presence, with a vast audience, and we believe she will be an equally powerful presence behind the scenes,” Paseornek says. “We are honored to be able to provide a home for her ideas, passion and immense talent.”
Janet also released a statement, saying: “Many people forget I started out as an actor. I have been fortunate to work in the film industry, though not as much as I would like. I have a passion for storytelling, and have been doing it through my music for some time.”
As for what type of movies Janet may focus on, the singer says she is drawn to diverse material but has a particular love for film noir.
