Miss Jackson Inks Movie Deal

According to newly published reports, Janet Jackson has inked a deal with Lionsgate Pictures to develop and produce a feature film for the company. Janet has recently starred in three Lionsgate films, including “Why Did I Get Married?”, “Why Did I Get Married Too?” and “For Colored Girls.”

Mike Paseornek, president of Lionsgate picture production and promotion, said the studio recognized Janet’s instincts for great stories. “She is a powerful on-screen presence, with a vast audience, and we believe she will be an equally powerful presence behind the scenes,” Paseornek says. “We are honored to be able to provide a home for her ideas, passion and immense talent.”

Janet also released a statement, saying: “Many people forget I started out as an actor. I have been fortunate to work in the film industry, though not as much as I would like. I have a passion for storytelling, and have been doing it through my music for some time.”

As for what type of movies Janet may focus on, the singer says she is drawn to diverse material but has a particular love for film noir.

  1. Totally agree with this move. Congrats to her!!! Can’t wait to see the first film. Brownsista, the janet picture up top is from where? I’ve never seen it before.

  2. I have something for her. How can I get into contact with her people? Help?

  3. Go Girl! Nothing can stop this woman. She is sooo inspiring I love her so much!

  4. ***Screams drops my pink coffee mug and does the butterfly dance*** I LUVS DIS W O M A N. I can’t wait to see her in DC next Thursday March 24 2011 @ 8:00PM. #PRESSED

  5. maybe this is janet’s way of doing the eartha kitt story. hopefully, she would be great as the LEGEND. I capitalize the word LEGEND, because people use that word, like they drink water, for the sake of describing an artist they like and not based on talent.

  6. janet would be a legend like madonna. both legendary based on popularity. like high school. The In crowd, they do things entertaining. whereas her brother would be an icon/legend because of his talent.

  7. @ Bohwe I thought they were both legends base on their accomplishments. These two women are the blueprint for every pop female artist of today. Janet Jackson has been receiving legend awards since the 90’s. Janet became MTV 1st Icon in 2000. @ Bohwe fo you remember that ceremony? No matter what I believe Janet herself doesn’t consider herself a legend during the Black Glama shoot, she said she has to much work to do. Janet Jackson is just a humble #LEGEND lol.
