Singer Janet Jackson has been criss-crossing the country all this week promoting her new film Why Did I Get Married. Janet made two stops in New York on Thursday, appearing on Good Morning America with Tyler Perry, and later on taping a segment of 106 & Park with both Tyler and Jill Scott. Why Did I Get Married opens today nationwide and sistas especially should support this film. Tyler’s last film to star a Black woman, Daddy’s Little Girls, with Gabrielle Union didn’t do so well at the theaters leading many to believe Black America won’t support a Tyler film without the Madea character. Let’s prove them wrong and show our support for not only Tyler but for the many Black actresses that he gives opportunities to.
More pics from Good Morning America and 106 & Park can be seen on the pages below.
Jill Scott is a PURE beauty! Janet looks great, but I like her better without all of the hair extensions
I WILL support this film.
Janet Rocks, I love her. Jill Scott is beautiful. I LOVE her album. Real Music !!!
I will definately be watching this movie tonight. It’s not very often we get to see a black film where there are no drugs being sold or no one is being shot. May god bless Tyler Perry.
Black America will support this film because of two words: Tyler Perry. LOL. I miss the hell out of Madea and would love to see a film devoted ENTIRELY to her, but when you think of Madea, you think of Tyler and vice versa. I think the film will do well.
LOVE JANET and JILL!!!
Killing it ladies! You too Tyler!! :)
I just love to support films made by African-Americans especially when they are about love  As for Madea, :iagree: that a film devoted to her should be made. Jill Scott looks amazing beautiful. Janet looks happy for a change and Tyler is just as handsome as he could be!
can’t wait to see the film tonight! :dance1: :dance2:
Just to let ya’ll know Why did I get married? is an excellent movie. Ya’ll see :koolaid:
I saw “Why did I get married last night?” Jill scott is beautiful. The character, “Angela”, steals the show, but it is Jill Scott who will move you to tears. Janet was wonderful as well – loved the short hair on her!!
I went to see this movie last night and it was sold out!
Brownsista,
Can you (or someone on here) give this film a critique???
I love Tyler, I do, but his films don’t always hit the mark…no matter how star-studded the cast is.
It was hard as hell getting in to see this movie. The last time I had this much trouble seeing a movie was a few years back when Shrek 2 came out. The lines were long, but luckily two brothas hooked me up and I was squeezed into an already packed theater.
Madam Zenobia the film was great and by far Tyler Perry’s best effort so far. The entire cast was good but Jill and Tasha Smith (especially Tasha) owned this film. You will laugh and cry and leave the theater wanting to see more. There are no weak links in this film at all. If you travel Black sites reading the review you will see everyone agrees with me. Tyler did his thing with this one and I am so proud of Jill Scott.
By the way, early estimates have Why Did I Get Married leading the pack of all new movies.

This film is indeed the best film by Tyler Perry. There was a beginning, middle and end (so many films lack this simple formula). The characters and storyline were well defined and represented the diversity of personailities and issues that exist in the black community (’cause the shoot’em up, rap ‘em up, dance ‘em up, step ‘em up, I’mma playa buffoonery kills me).
Everyone did an excellent job! But Jill Scott and Tasha Smith stood out for me. That dang on Sheriff was one HANDSOME brotha
I would love to see Janet Jackson play a role very different from her own personality (or at least the one we see in interviews). Her roles are always so safe…
GO SEE THIS FILM, NOW
I went to see WDIGM on Friday and it was a really good movie. I actually like Tyler Perry movies better when Medea is NOT in them. I loved Daddy’s Little Girls. I have never been a big fan of the Medea character. All that said, WDIGM is a very thought provoking film. I’m single, but still took a lot away from the movie. Marriage is a lot of work! The film made that point very clear. The cast was good. I was a little skeptical about Ms. Jackson playing a character in a movie like this, but she pulled it off. There is one emotionally charged scene where I actually got teary-eyed. It’s just nice to see Black people dipicted as educated, strong and successful. Good movie. Go see it if you haven’t already.
