Jennifer Hudson Set To Shoot New Video

posted by Sista on December 10th, 2008 at 7:41 am

Singer Jennifer Hudson is heading back to work, just six weeks after her mother, brother and nephew were murdered. According to reports, Jennifer will be in Los Angeles next week to begin shooting the video for her next single, If It Isn’t Love. Jennifer also scooped up four Grammy Nominations last week, including Best R n’ B Album, Best R n’ B Song for her single Spotlight, Best R n’ B Female Vocal Performance and Best Performance by a Duo or Group- for which she shares the nomination with fellow American Idol’er- Fantasia. Jennifer issued a statement last week about her Grammy nods which was short and to the point: “It’s been a childhood dream of mine to release an album, so to receive four Grammy nominations is truly a blessing. I’m extremely honored and humbled by the nominations.”

No word whether Jennifer will show up or perform but I think she will and more than likely walk away with at least one statuette.

  4. I’m so happy to here that Jennifer is going back too work and congrats on your 4 grammy nominations. Cant wait to see the new video

  5. I’m so proud of her for picking herself up and going on. All of her victories from here on out will be bitter sweet. I know eventually she will be fine though. God obviously has big plans for her.

  6. It is good to see Jen back. Congrats on the Grammy nominations and I wish her well with the new video.

  7. Im so happy she back i was little worry. My mother past away 5 yrs ago of cancer. She told me that im the strongest out of my sibling. When she past on i know she did not want me to be all depress and not move on with life. I know jennifer is doing the same thing. She look like a strong woman. So Go Jennifer.

  8. I’m glad she’s back and can’t wait to see more of JHud.

  9. SO HAPPY FOR JEN, I HOPE THAT SHE CONTINUES TO LET HERSELF HEAL SO SHE CAN BE THE BEST SHE CAN BE IN THIS INDUSTRY. I THINK SHE HAS THE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE AREALLY BIG NAME FOR HERSELF

  10. I am so happy for her. This song is one of the best on the album.

  11. Going back to work is good therapy for her. Jennifer will need our continued prayers. I pray that God keeps her and makes her stronger.

  12. Bless her sweet and precious heart.

  13. The reason why i admire this woman so much is that most people can relate to her,her life is real not a made up hollywood fantasy, let us continue to keep her and her family in our thoughts and prayers,i love her whole album every song grows on you every day,i’m so happy that she is getting recognition for her beautiful work i hope she wins all 4 of them and i hope she gets nominated for an Oscar 4 the Sex in the City role, she realy represented us Sistas in new light….life goes on J-Hud….everything will be okay

  14. I believe that it was easier for her to come back because the person who committed those murders has been charged and denied bail, plus the strong support from her fans. Had the murders not been solved I think she may have set out longer, maybe until a verdict had been reached to what happened. I love her and continue to pray for her and wish her all the best. My gurl got 4 grammy nominations and according to billboard her album went gold. This was just what the doctor ordered for this point in her life, the success of her first love, her music.

  15. I’m glad she is back. God bless and give her strength.

  16. Welcome back Jennifer. Bless you, sweetie!

  17. Good Luck Jen! I’m sure she’ll win at least one Grammy. Jazmine Sullivan deserves one too.

  18. Blame it on tha Rain

Congratulations to Jen on her nominations  & “If It Isn’t Luv” is my jam… I just finished listening to it :brownsista: .

  19.
    Love my girl Jennifer !!!
Congrats to her on the grammy nominations. well deserved.

  20. I absolutely love If It Isn’t Love! Fave song off of the album. I will continue to pray for strength for her!

  21. :iagree: @ TEE. I believe that it just made it a little calmer for her knowing that the alleged murderer is under arrest and progress is being made to resolve who killed her family members. But I believe as well that her acting, singing and endorsement deals will be therapeutic for her as she will be able to channel her emotions through her work. I love her as well. She is a great example of hanging in there.

  22. hope she gets those grammys even though yall didnt mention rihannas 3 and jazmines 5

  23. i lost my mom back in 1995 i feel her pain

  24. Has anyone heard the song? Wait – of course someone has, right? I haven’t so can someone tell me if it’s sad? I don’t think I want to see her in a really emotional video singing a sad song. In the pictures most blogs put up from the funeral (the ones from the hotel) she looked like a person who was grieving. I’m just skeptical about her ability to look okay in the thing… I just hope she’s had enough time to be okay…her career isn’t going anywhere.

  25. @ terry jazmines 5 have been posted already :bag:

@majah the song isnt sad its a very nice feel good song about being in love i love the song because its not over the top its just simple and easy to listen to…sometimes less is more and in this song it really is…very beautiful song

  26. Blame it on tha Rain

    @majah

I cosign w/ mario. The song is really pretty & it is simple. Just about being inluv. You should google it, that way you can hear for yourself. Also given what she has been thru, I think ANY song she would sing w/ emotion can maybe stir up some of those emotions from the deaths of her loved ones.

  27. God bless this women! With all that she has recently been through, only the strength of God will carry her through. It’s good to see her back up and running, too. I was really starting to miss this young lady and seeing her blossom and flourish in the entertainment industry. I hope (and know) she will come back will a bang! But if otherwise, she’ll always have my support – and vote. Go sistah, Jen!!!

  28. Glad to see the sista making music again… Can’t wait to see the new video…

  29. I’m also proud of J-Hud all the best !! :brownsista:

  30. Best wishes to Jennifer for her return to her music. Many people that sing say that music is a form of thearpy for them. So Ms Jen, sing your heart out and try to continue healing yourself. I am looking forward to seeing your new video.

  31. Good for her getting back out there, I just hope that she’s not being pressured from anybody to come back. Hopefully she is taking HER time. I know if she wins, she may breakdown during her acceptance speech. I know I would. I’ll be waiting for the video.

Continued prayers to you Jen! :brownsista:

  32. YAY!!!! GO J HUD! I am so proud of her for never getting down and listening to critics. See what happens when you set your mind to do something? The sky is the limit. Can’t wait to her more from Jennifer Hudson.

  33. i love the whole album except that pocketbook song…other than that i wouldnt mind seeing a video for every song off the album…give it to me jhud!

  34. Ahhhhhhhhh J-Hud. I know I love ya girl! Just at your old high school last week and hope you the best. YOU are one of the ones I will DEFINITELY support. J-Hud always been down to earth and didn’t have to step on anybody toes to do so…….yet. Her mother was nice just wish she got her out of Englewood sooner. Her brother was………(granny taught me not to speak ill of the dead so I’ll just keep mouth close)

Anyway You gon make it girl. I KNOW so!

  35. God bless you JHud!!! Can’t wait to see the video :brownsista:

  36. Go JKH….

It is good to see her back to work after what happened to her. Sometimes, the best way to heal to get to work. Maybe she can dedicate the video to her mom and bro. That would be great. I have been praying for her since the tragedy and she is very strong. I am proud of her for showing such strength….

  37. I’m happy that she’s being recognized, good for her, I just hope that in the midst of her recent tragedys that she takes the time out to take care of herself. But I wish her and her fam all the best

  38. @Mario,

I love Pocketbook. I get a kick out of it everytime I hear it. I guess you have to be a church girl to get the whole ‘Don’t Make Me ‘hit you with my pocketbook ‘ line.

  39. lol i know a good friend of mine likes it and he tells me “dont make me hit you with my pocketbook” :lol2: it cracks me up the line is catchy i just dont like the way the song goes. but if this isnt love is my jam i constantly hear it on my ipod :brownsista:

  40. She really is a strong woman. May God Bless Her.

  41. @NubianJ jennifer wanted to get her mother out of there. But her mother wanted to stay. I live upstate new york. I go to the city alot. I have a friend that lives in albany. She was trying to get her mother out of the city. Her mother said she was born in the city and she going to die in the city. Some people just get custom where they live at.

  42. I agree with Lady.

I know of people who made it good in the city and wanted to move their parents out of the South and the parents would not go. Older people get accustomed to things and don’t want to change. I think they failed to realise that Jennifer is famous which makes them famous by proxy. When you are in the spotlight you have to be more concerned about your safety and environment.

It is no one’s fault except the guy who did it and he hopefully is behing bars. Time and chance happens to us all.

  43. Great to see J Hud out again; she`s definitely a beautiful brown sista.

MJ & The Golden 80s forever!!!

  44. @ Smooth Criminal :iagree:

I can not wait to see the video for this song and I hope that she releases “You Pulled Me Through” . These songs are so relatable. I mean for so long I thought that I was not going to find the love of my life and then I turn around and it slapped me right in the face. He is my angel and I will always love him dearly. Although sometimes I want to “hit him with my pocket”… :lol2:

  45. @ adoration 4 b aww that was so sweet! sometimes thats how it happens and usually they are the ones to keep for a life time….i wish you luck!

  46. Looking forward to more from Jennifer…may God be with her and her family.

  47. God Bless you Baby,

I hope and pray that you and your loved ones are blessed. I also pray that you continue to be the megastar that you are , and even larger in the future. Your a sweetheart and deserving of all your success.
