Jill Marie Jones Lands ‘Evil Dead’ Leading Role

Former ‘Girlfriends’ star Jill Marie Jones is the latest Brown Sista to be tapped to lead her own television series.

According to a recent press release, Jill will helm Starz’s upcoming original series ‘Ash vs Evil Dead,’ which starts filming in New Zealand later this spring.

The half hour series will originally air ten episodes and debut this fall alongside Starz’s 2014 break out hit ‘Power’ which stars Naturi Naughton and Omari Hardwick.

‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ is a follow-up to the cult film franchise ‘Evil Dead’ and stars Bruce Campbell as Ash. Jill will play Amanda Fischer, a disgraced state trooper who sets out to apprehend Ash and prove he is behind the grisly murder of her partner.

This will be Jill’s first starring role since she left ‘Girlfriends’ back in 20016. Jones has done guest spots on several shows, including season two of Fox’s supernatural drama ‘Sleepy Hollow,’ where she recently reprised her role of Cynthia Irving.

  1. I’m so happy for Jill Marie Jones, she’s such a class act. What a talent! Hopefully, if Sleepy Hollow comes back, she will make a guest appearance.

  2. I’m just hoping the show is renewed so we can get back to the Witnesses and a real fight against the Apocalypse. So tired of Crane and his family drama.

  3. Between this and sleepy hollow, I just can’t get down with the demonic. I reallly tried with sleepy hollow but it really bothered me.

    Wish I could suppoDr but I can’t

  4. I wish it was me filming in New Zeland the men are beautiful. That’s the homeland of sexy Maori men. Like, Manu Bennett that played on Spartacus as Crixus. If I was Jill, I would go to there, “single”. LOL

  5. @sista- I started back working part time, and haven’t seen sleepy hollow in literally a month- should I catch up?

I am happy for Jill Marie- she is really talented and I think she will do a great job!

  6. Good for Jill. I will most def support her and her new show. I was happy when sleepy hollow (sh)producers/writers remembered that her character was still alive. Yes, SH is worth getting caught up on. The last few episodes are very good.
