Jill Scott Joins ‘Black Lightning’ Cast
Singer Jill Scott is returning to television. The three-time Grammy winner will reportedly play the villainous Lady Eve in the upcoming CW drama Black Lightning. The DC Comics character is described as a funeral parlor owner who quickly becomes the adversary of the show’s protagonist (Black Lightning) as she is revealed to be the bridge between the underworld and a secret group of corrupt leaders.
“Jill is an amazing artist who can embody any character and give them an authentic voice,” said Black Lightning showrunner Salim Akil. We are excited to have her join the cast and can’t wait for fans to see her amazing portrayal of Lady Eve.”
Black Lightning marks Jill’s first return to the small screen since her Being Mary Jane guest appearance back in 2015. Since then she’s secured a number of acting roles, including RZA’s Love Beats Rhymes and the upcoming Lifetime movie Flint.
For those of you outta the loop, Black Lightning is a DC Comics comic book recently adapted by Warner Brothers for the small screen. It stars Cress Williams, China Anne McClain, Nafessa Williams and Christine Adams.
The series is set to debut in early 2018.
