Keke Palmer Lands New Movie Role

True Jackson V.P., star Keke Palmer is heading back to the big screen. The 17 year old beauty will reportedly star in Nick Cannon’s upcoming film “Rags.” Keke broke the news via her website and revealed how the new role came about.

According to Keke, Nick called her parents/manager and told them he had written a script with her specifically in mind to play the lead. After checking it out for themselves, Keke says she went into entrepreneurial mode, adding herself on as the film’s co-producer.

Because of her now heightened role in the project, Keke said she was able to make suggestions about the script, the hiring of cast members, and even the movie’s score, which is being overseen by Rodney Jerkins and Billie Woodruff.

Keke says she took on the role because she hadn’t done anything similar since her 2007 Disney TV film “Jump In.” Since her debut Keke, has been in over 10 films, including “Akeelah and the Bee,” “Madea’s Family Reunion,” and the upcoming Queen Latifah/Dolly Parton project “Joyful Noise.”

  1. I watched her on Black Girls Rock and she talked about not going naked and selling the sex stuff like the other girls do… I really hope she keeps that while growing up. She is beautiful and talented.

  2. This is great news!!! We have to make it happen…greenlight our own projects…I love that Nick Cannon is at the helm and giving her creative control and interest in this project…helping to create a young, budding film exec!

Keke is a wonderful artist and role model!

I think this will be an excellent opportunity for her. Maybe she will be the next Raven Simone and make a Millions while keeping her dignity and self respect!

  4. @COCO… we will have to wait and see if that changes once she turns 18!!!
