Kelis Releases Her First Cookbook

Kelis Cooks Up a Little Something Extra for Fans

KELIS COOKBOOKWith an album titled “Food” and songs like “Biscuits n’ Gravy,” is it any wonder Kelis has decided to release her very own cookbook?

The soulful singer has been flexing her culinary muscle for a while now, having graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in 2008 with the certified title of saucier.

Since then, Kelis has hosted her own show on the Cooking Channel (Saucy & Sweet), released her own line of sauces (Bounty & Full), and even opened her own food truck to cook for attendees at the SXSW Music Festival.

However, according to Kelis, it is her upcoming cookbook My Life on a Plate, that really has her excited these days.

“This is a dream come true. I have been working towards this day for so long” she recently told Billboard. “My Life on a Plate” is a collection of dishes I have been perfecting for years. They are truly a reflection of my life as a chef, musician, mother and wife.”

Just as she would with a new album, Kelis plans to hit the promo circuit to promote My Life on a Plate, which comes out September 7 via Kyle Books.

Look for the saucy singer to make upcoming appearances on The Real and the The Boris & Nicole Show.

You can also pre-order the book now via Amazon.

  1. Good for her. The music industry is so unstable. Glad she’s found something else that brings her joy.

I bought Patti Labelle’s cookbook and the Neely’s. I’ll buy Kelis’ too.

  2. I read a rumor that she’s preggo again. Congrats if true! I love Kelis. I don’t cook. Can’t. Suck at it, but I will buy this book.

  3. I bought Patti’s cookbook, but wasn’t all that impressed. I don’t think she put her best recipes in it, at least not the first one which featured a recipe for an egg sandwich where the ingredients were eggs, salt and pepper. 😆 I mean come on Pattie. You can do better than that.

  4. I’ve always liked Kelis and have supported her albums. This cook book is a great addition to Kelis the “Lifestlye” brand. I will certainly be buying it. I have to know how she makes her Jerk Ribs.
I also have a Patti Labelle cook book, can’t say I’ve tried the recipes, but gotta Love Miss Patti.
