Kelly Rowland Searches For Real Father
Singer Kelly Rowland has decided to search for the father she hasn’t seen since she was a little girl. Kelly was just eight years old when she and her mother were forced to flee their home because her dad was an abusive drunk. Kelly’s mom was unable to support herself and her daughter however and that of course is where the Knowles family come in. Mathew and Tina took Kelly in and the rest is Destiny’s Child history. Despite having her entire world turned upside down as a child, Kelly says she has forgiven her father and wants to reconcile. “I don’t know where he is but I hope he’s not dead. That would break my heart. I remember my dad being drunk and aggressive towards my mom but not me. It took courage for her to get away. I don’t know if he knows who I am or what I’ve done. He must be hiding under a rock if he doesn’t.”

And in other not so depressing news, Kelly is taking in the Cannes Film Festival and took time out to pose for a few pics. Here she is below at the De Grisogono Photocall.

Good for her. I hope he has worked out his problems over the years and they can have a great father daighter relationship. Kelly was lucky to have Mathew step in as her dad. He clearly has done more for her than the real dad ever could have or would have.

Kelly is so adorably cute in those pics. I hope her album does well. It takes love to search for a abusive parent. I guess we all want to get in touch with both our sides. Hopefully he will no longer be drinking and will want a relationship with her based on her being his daughter and not a celebrity.

I think this is great. Even with all he’s done to her and her mother, I think it’s good that she’s forgiven him and wants a relationship because he is still her father. I hope it works out.
And people can say what they want about the Knowles but they did not have to take her in and raise her. Yeah she was apart of the group but nobody was singing except Beyonce until damn near the last album so they could have used anybody. They took this girl in out of the kindness of their heart, that is the only reason someone would decide to take a child that’s not theirs and raise it.
Good luck finding your father Ms. Kelly.

Good Luck to Kelly and I wish her much success and love with finding her father. I am glad she forgave him and I really hope they will be able to have a wonderful relationship. There is nothing like having a good relationship with both parents. God Bless!

WOW I wish the best for KELLY!!! I’m so proud of her and the person she turned out to be, not growing up with both her parents.
I wish nothing but the best and I hope when (I’m being optimistic) she does find her father, he shows her maddd love and don’t turn her away.
…I think the same type of story happened with Chilli from TLC right?

Loveher, I was thinking the same thing since we’re a month away from her album release. But then again, maybe she finally has time in her life to focus on kin.
Even if she hasn’t seen her dad since she was 8 years old, if he’s still on this Earth he knows who she is, where she is and can find a way to get in touch with her. But that speaks to his desire (or lack of) to re-establish a relationship with his child. I applaud Kelly for being mature enough to look past this slight. She’s now seeking him out and it won’t be long before he is located.

I do believe that it is promotion for Kelly but when Chilli from TLC said that she wanted to meet her dad she just made the comment on a TV speical called TLC Past, Present in Future on MTV around the time they were doing press for Crazy Sexy Cool. The producers of Sally Jessy took it up on themselves to find her dad and she was on the show after they finshed up with Crazy Sexy Cool tour. It took them a while to contact her she didn’t know that someone was looking for him for her. Kelly on the other head is trying to get press for her albulm because this story has been posted on every blog. So Chilli and Kelly situations are two diffrent things.

That is true. I forgot Sally just helped her out like that. That was a blessing for Chilli and I pray Kelly has the same posiitive results.

Oh my god are you guys serious? You actually think Kelly would do something like this to promote her album? And i also remember Chili on Sally Jesse Raphael when she found her dad and that was not for publicity. I don’t even think she sought him out. I think it just kind of happened. I agree celebs do drastic stuff to promote their products but not this. Kelly doesn’t even strike me as that kind of person.

exactly…some of y’all are some straight up HATERS! kelly probably wants to be the apple of someone’s eye! beyonce has jay-z, matthew, and tina… solange has her son…and kelly isn’t as close to her mother as her brother is, plus she’s single…and i do think she has some scars from childhood with living a broken life and all… i really do think it is an honest effort on her part to find her father, and build a relationship so she can have successful relationships after…it’s proven that girls who don’t grow up with their father have problems with relationships, even orgasms! it’s not some publicity stunt! stop living in the gutter y’all!

Good luck Kelly in the search. I’m wishing you the best of luck. Here is hoping that you’ll be a happy family and your life with be complete. I’m very close to my dad since childhood and am now 34. I understand how you feel about not growing up with your natural dad. Dads are very important.

Searching for him? If I were her, I’d be avoiding him like the plague, but I guess she’s at that age where she feels the need to “bond” with both her parents. Drunk AND abusive? *pfft*
Sorry if my cynicism upsets some of you, but I went that route when I was her age, and I deeply regret it. Sometimes what is gone should stay gone and never be unearthed again. It doesn’t always work out in real life like it does in the movies.
Still, in my heart, I’m hoping that her experience is more fulfilling for her than mine was, but my “inner voice” (the one that has kept me alive all these years) is surprised he hasn’t shown up already - looking for a handout.
