Kelly Rowland Talks New Album and Chasing Destiny

KELLY ROWLAND CHASING DESTINYFans still waiting for that Destiny’s Child reunion album Matthew Knowles keeps promising them, are going to have quite a wait according to group member Kelly Rowland.

In a recent interview, Miss Kelly said she is 100% focused on finding the next Destiny’s Child, not reuniting with the old one. “Fans should not expect an album anytime soon,” Kelly told reporters at a recent press event. “Everyone is really focused on their own individual projects right now.”

For Kelly, that means her upcoming fifth solo album, and Chasing Destiny, the reality show she’s working on with BET and choreographer Frank Gatson.

As previously reported, Chasing Destiny will debut in April and follows Kelly and Frank as they traverse the country looking for the next big girl group. So far the pair have held auditions in New York, Atlanta and Los Angeles.

As for what she and Frank are looking for in contestants, Kelly says “I don’t care where they are from or their background. As long as they are willing to work hard, sleep eat and breathe music, then we can work with them.”

Kelly went on to lament the state of girl groups these days, saying she misses the era she grew up in. “When Destiny’s Child was around we also had SWV, EnVogue, Xscape, and even the Cheetah Girls. Yes, there are a handful of groups out now enjoying success, but we definitely need more.”

As for what her fans really want: new music- Kelly says the wait is almost over. “The album is finished, and I know artists say this all the time, but this really is my best body of work to date.” Kelly previewed several new singles for fans last summer, including Dumb and No Pressure.

Miss Kelly fans should also be on the look out for Kelly’s upcoming Seagram’s Escapes campaign which kicks off next month. Kelly partnered with the wine cooler maker earlier this year and plans to release her own line of exotic flavors called Kelly’s Koolers.
