Kelly Rowland has once again found chart success in the UK. “When Love Takes Over”, a collaboration between Kelly and French DJ, David Guetta, has climbed to the top of the UK singles chart. It becomes the first #1 for Guetta but the third for Kelly, as she went to the top with two Destiny’s Child singles- “Independent Women” and “Survivor”. Several singles from Kelly’s “Miss Kelly” CD also charted well on the UK charts- showing once again that the British are far more open to Kelly and her sound than the United States is. Word is Kelly is still working on her third solo CD and has enlisted Guetta to help cultivate her new sound.
Congrats to Kelly.
Yeah baby *thumbsup*
Congratulation Miss Kelly. It’s one of my favorite jams to dance to.
She is also number one In the Us dancecharts :)
Congrats to her….I love Kelly! We Americans are just a little more critical of our artist…thats all…lol
Go Kelly! Can’t wait for the album.
Good fo her!!! I love that song too…Congrats Kelly :)
congrats to kelly. this is no surprise…her singles have always done well in the UK.
It’s her 4th time charting at number 1 in the UK your missing Dilemma ft Nelly. Two with DC and two solo. Go Kelly!
I thought she had Andre but couldn’t find the facts to back it up. Either way, if I was Kelly I would focus on the overseas market which is definitely a lot more receptive to her.
I’m so happy for her. I really am…
Congrats to her..she’s finally getting the recognition she deserves.
Good for her. Now what I would love for her to do is stay there, grow on her music and artistic journey. Don’t be in a rush to “shine” in the states. Then as she gets more confidence in her artistic expression then introduce herself to us as Kelendria, the Artist….
I mean that. I was talking to a poster in Blackvoices(a website) about her and I feel she has talent, she just need the confidence in striking out on her own and being more confident in what she(not her label wants her to be) wants to project as an artist. The test will not be in her getting #1s in the UK, but in gradually being a force with her sound. American artists have gone overseas, blown up, then with a big enough buzz took it to the states and became a force over there. Kelly can do that. She’s young enough to take her time, and have that plan of attack. I hope her label sees this as well. But again, good for Kelly.
I wish I had saw your post, Stephanie because then I wouldn’t have had typed that long post that I made. I agree. She can get to the states, but let her grow musically and artistically over their first. The good thing about an artist doing their thing overseas, when fans love a specific artist, they love them for life basically. That takes a lot of pressure off. Especially with the way sales are going down states-wide. An artist can grow with their music without the pressure of compromising it just to sell. So Kelly has that advantage. What do you think?
I say get in where you fit in. Congrats 2 Kelly, happy for her. I think the problem with her past albums not doing well stateside has been an overall lack of strong material and a lack of direction. “Simply Deep” was a sound forced onto Kelly and I don’t think she had enough of a personal voice to fire back to Mathew or whomever else to insist on a sound she wanted. “Ms. Kelly” was actually a solid album but more than half the tracks were over a year old, and we’ve all seen what happens when artists repeatedly delay their albums. *cough* Fantasy Ride *cough*
She’ll get it right.
Congrats Miss Kelly! I love this song!
Agreed@Baron.
I am glad African American artists are branching out and being accepted for more that just R&B.
Go Kelly.
Yay for Kelly.
Meanwhile, low ticket sales forces Beyodel to cancel a concert. :|

@Stephanie, Curtis, Baron, & Talulazoeapple
Cosign w/ all of you.
Congrats to Kelly & like it has already been mentioned, get in where you fit in.
@yaykelly: It’s unfortunate that you felt the need to bring up Beyonce in a post that’s supposed to be about her friend and former bandmate. This is exactly the reason Ms. Rowland never gets her proper due, as you’re always unable to think of Kelly as her own person. It amazes me how the people that cheered up and down at Kelly’s separation from Mathew were no doubt the same ones who didn’t buy her albums. I at least purchased “Simply Deep,” although I wasn’t thrilled by the product.
Since you brought it up – it’s unfortunate that Bee had to cancel a concert, but like many have said, she will still make tens of millions, and she has been doing really well in urban markets like NY, Atlanta, Chicago, as well as international hotspots like London and Amsterdam. This is practically a depression we’re in. Bee realizes that, but as she is a business, it’s not like she’s just gonna shut down and stop pushing her products in order to make money. Businesses have to forge on despite the tough economic times.
I think I’ve said enough – back 2 Kelly – congrats (again)!
happy for her,cnt wait to see her live again i realy like her voice and presence…..rihanna must follow suite and relocate to London….she is wasting her time overthere and Americans are so xenophobic towards her.
Congrats to Kelly. Who says America is the only place you can find success. Besides, the dollar over there is more powerful than ours.
I love David Guetta. I love his song “The World is Mine”. The song makes me feel like the world really is mine. Makes me feel fierce.
Shes not only number in uk she number one here too and some more countries post that information to set the haters straight!
Congrats Kelly!!!!! Love her!
Congratulations to Kelly! I was so happy when I found out shes number 1 here, shes always done reasonably well, but shes sort of turning her sound into more of a dance sound as thats where she does well. I have both her albums and I think they’re both good…’Simply Deep’ is one of my favourite albums. I hope her success continues here and spreads over to the USA :) ***
Liverpool, you are so right. It’s a great opportunity for Kelly and like you said, she should commit herself fully overseas. They love her and there is potential for more and more love for her. Allow herself to keep flying.
And thanks for the love as per usual, Blame_it_on_da_rain.
Good for her1 If Europe is showing her love she should do her thing. I heard the song on BET and I liked it. It definitely has a European club sound so I’m not sure how people in the U.S. will receive it but I’m glad she’s branching out.
Love Ms. Kelly and so glad to see her doing the darn thing! I wish her much continued success!!
I agree with you Sade and Baron. AMerica is not the only place you can find success and when did America set the standard for what everyone wants and will buy. I for one know that there is far more garbage in America with the music than we care to admit. But where God wants to bless you he will. We just have to see when opportunity hits and for it. I am pulling for Kelly. And When Love Takes Over is my absolute favorite.
when did America set the standard for what everyone wants and will buy
AMEN
I wish her continued success
Do it Kelly….. bad chocolate thang. :-)
lol Voice um depends on what we buy…. a lot of countries will follow trends of the U.S. and other things we do.
I’d rather get paid in euro right about now myself *nods*
Congrats Ms. Kelly!

Congrats kells! I love hearing good news about this girl. I love how she’s coming into her own self now and really finding her sound! I always root for the underdogs and happy to see them get their piece of the pie!

CURTIS here we go again!!!! your words just give you away!!! you are definatley an undercover MWE WORKER or paid blogger for BEYSNEAKY !!!!You said “she should just stay there and work on her music,” *in jamie foxx voice impersonating bill cosby* BIT** PLEASE!!! With her now being a hit it just goes to show it WAS MATHEW ALL ALONG,if she just now prove that she have the potential to be NUMBER #1 (even with one song)on the dance charts here and abroad then yes she can work her magic over here to,so stop talking like she some rookie cause she’s not.you just dont want your boss to lose business which means cut backs in staff in other words YOUR *** OUT OF A JOB!!!! FACE IT DUDE HEAVY COMPETITION IS BACK IN THE GAME  !!! RIHANNA,LADY GAGA,LETOYA ,MS KELLY oh and did i mention WHITNEY AND MARIAH is dropping toward the end of the year!!!
