Kelly Rowland is back on the scene with a new single and video. The DC3 cutie hooked up with French DJ, David Guetta, to record the techno-pop track, “When Love Takes Over.” The song was officially released as the first single from Guetta’s upcoming album “One Love,” last month and instantly bulleted up to #2 on the Hot Dance Airplay chart. Kelly will join Guetta as he tours stateside in support of the single but also has plans to release another solo track of her own. The singer plans to release a charity single called “I Heart My Girlfriend.”
And though Kelly is still between labels and doesn’t have concrete plans for another solo album, she hints that her next effort may return the favor for Guetta and focus more on the clubs. “This has definitely inspired me to put more of a dance sound on an album of my own,” she says. “I want to try out that world without straying too far from my urban roots.”

If she fails this time, nobody can blame Matthew Knowles. Kelly just does not have the “it” factor that the record labels will promote and support. She is boring. Michelle and Kelly will always be in Beyonce’s shadow, will never have her level of success and will be looked at as Beyonce’s back up singer/dancers. Solange gets more promo and gigs than these two. It is like Diana Ross and the Supremes all over again.
I can see it coming, while Beyonce’s career just keeps going up with no signs of slowing down, somebody from the DC camp will do a tell all book to tarnish her perfect goody two shoe image.

I was checking out her eye makeup…very lovely. I like the way the director fuses the swimming scene into a background. It definatly works with the calmer section of the music…cool effect. It’s a great track to dance to :thumbsup:

Kelly is absolutely flawless. I hope things workout for her this go round. I know it was tough firing her own dad. BTW I wonder if Kelly’s dating that french guy, or if she will date him int he future.

I too agree that this dance sound fits her personality and voice well. She’s of course gorgeous in the video. With some good producers and a solid marketing plan, I see 09/10 to be the year for Kelly Rowland to finally get her shine. This Europop thing really works for her.

beautiful and i love this song but her last album was honestly a hit she just realeased the wrong song, no one stoped her from releaseing “still in love with my ex” and stuff like that, I LOVE KELLY but she disappointed me by not rleasing the songs that were HOT from her album i kept waiting and waiting and it never happened….i understand she has to cater to her audience that was giving her most love (over seas) but some people still do love her here and she left us and THAT wasnt right at all

It’s amazing if any other artist, i.e. Bee, Riri, Cici, or any other mainstream artist does dance or this pop european fusion genre, they are labelled as selling their souls for more money, yet when flopping kelly does it, “Oh my Gosh, it so suits her, she’s trying different things…etc” Whatever!!!
Personally I think the song is trash, still love Kellz, have both her albums, I’ve heard better Dance Pop Songs, Michelle Williams, now that was a beautiful album.

@Mario she had to go where the money was. At that time she basically had no real management and her record label was not putting out any money to publish her so she went were people were feeling her. Now that she has real management I think she will make more appearances in the states on television and radio. I think she was being held back on purpose, but, hey that is the past and she seems to be moving on.

I still can and so can everyone else. If you’re not a power artist that calls the shots then people have control over you and what you do, and sometimes people can make so many bad decisions or hold you back so long that people just stop checking for you and it’s hard to get back in. Just look at Teairra Mari, the wrong songs made the CD and even worse songs made singles. Look at Cherish, they got NO promotion and flopped like hell. Talent and the “IT” factor doesn’t always matter. Teairra is practically over, and if Cherish’s people don’t step up for them this time, they’re through too. Look at Amerie she had pushback after pushback and her CD was released in another country, I didn’t know about it until like a year later.

Who are we to say what level of success this young lady will have. Unless you are God and already know the future you don’t know what this young lady has in store. How can we be so excited about having a black President but still be so negative about everything else in life and still have this defeatis attitude about things. She can be just as successful as anyone else in this world especially now that she does not have someone purposely trying to hold her down. It is not a mistake now that she has left her old management that all of sudden she is everywhere. Her old management is trying to stop another member of that group from performing on a certain award show that his daughter will be performing on. So that is what she was dealing with.

@Mario yes we can and they did. This man has had so many artisist under his management and on his record label and you never see him promoting anyone but his daughters. Now he is trying to get that young lady LeToya thrown out of performing at the BET awards I think it’s time to take the blinders off abouth Kelly Rowland’s former management. She has been promoted more in this short time with her new management than you have seen her with her former management. And now she has a number one song because the song was actually promoted and she has people getting her song airplay. And it is a matter of time before she blows up over here. The problem with greedy people like the Knowles is that they only see instant gratification and now with LeToya building on her product bit by bit and Kelly is starting to take off they will see they could have even more money. Beyonce whether you want to admit it or not is fading because the music business is changing and she is not changing with it. And yea she made the Forbes list but go look at that list for the past 10 or 15 years and you will see that there where a lot of famous people that use to be on that list.
When you put out bad energy the universe will give that same energy back. And the same rumors are not going to keep coming up about these people and none of it be true. That is just real. They are putting and have put bad energy out and it is going to come back to them. That is just the circle of life. So go Kelly do you and shine like you were meant to shine. Venegence is mine thus said the Lord so she does not have to do anything but what she is doing.

@Mario one of the things you left out of my statement was there were several artisist on their record label can you name one other artisist he promoted off that label besides his daughter. That LeToya thing it may be a rumor but it is all over the net even on some somewhat credible sites. As for me doing research for you it’s not that serious. But since you seem to be the Beyonce expert please tell me any other artisist you have seen this man or his company do any promotions for. You would forget this man owns a record company because you never hear him talk about it. And that includes Kelly you never heard him say one thing about her album that came out. No I don’t know these people and for that matter neither do you. But I do know this if the same type of rumor keeps coming out and the only constant in the rumor is you then guess what honey there is some truth to that. Even if it’s a little. And they way they fired that young lady out of that group where they found out watching it on television it is not unconcivable that he can and is doing something like this.

You are right, no way I can say that for sure. But the reason I guessed that is because Beyonce is one of, if not the biggest music star of the times. She was the break out star from the biggest female r&b group. She was the lead singer. She got all the press and props back then, and she gets even more now. Kelly will always be in that shadow. No matter what she does, she will be compared to Beyonce.

@Truthteller Kelly is not in Beyonce shadow. She forged ahead with no management no promotion and carved out a fan base for herself. That is how you get longevitity. No one is going to be on top forever. But get you a fan base and you will have a career forever. Because her music is so much fad and pop and what’s hot now alot of artisist like that are huge for awhile in then they fade away. If she does not start making music with some kind of personaltiy and feelings people will move on to the next hot thing. Look at your history it always happens.

I know Beyonce won’t be on top forever. Someday she’ll get fat, her breast will sag, and the kids that are in the middle school now will find a new star to worship. But by the time that happens, will people be checking for Kelly? That’s the question.
Most of Beyonces hits are fads. Like I was in love with Crazy in Love and Single Ladies, but now I cringe every time I hear it. It just doesnt’ sound so good anymore. However, Beyonce has been smart enough to put out songs of substance that will always be good, like Dangerously in Love, Halo, If I were a Boy and Me Myself and I. Those songs will be song at talent shows and auditions even after Bey’s reign is over. Kelly hasn’t done that. Stole was her only song like that, but it wasn’t that big of a hit.
Kelly will have a career as long as she has fans. Her fans will stick with her and she’ll get new ones along the way. But the reason I said she’ll be in Beyonces shadows, is cause people are always always going to compare the two. I like Kelly and all, but I don’t think she has the appeal with people that Beyonce does. Do you think if Kelly starred in Dreamgirls or Obsessed it would’ve worked? I don’t make the rules, I’m just saying…

@Truthteller you have no way of knowing if Kelly were in those movies that it would not have worked. To be perfectly honest anyone could have played Beyonce’s part in dream girls because she was not the star of that movie. If it Jennifer wasn’t in that movie she was not the star. I don’t know why you keep insisting that Kelly does not have it or is in Beyonce shadow, I guess the people over the pond didn’t get that memo because my understanding is that she is more popular over there.
Let Kelly shine. It’s okay they both can shine and no one has to be in the other’s shadow. Let Kelly be Kelly and let Beyonce be Beyonce. Stars are made.. and Bee was set to be a star since the beginning, that was Matt’s plan all along. I really do think that Kelly is very talented but Matt and family did not want any others stars to shine. I have Kelly’s last cd and there were several songs that should have been a HIT… still in love with my ex, the show(featuring Tank), like this (featuring Eve), Ghetto(featuring Snoop)… all of these songs were great… but in the US we put success on beauty…like Beyonce, she is very fair skin, sell sex, is over-rated, and sings bubble gum music. Yes, she is beautiful, but has anyone ever noticed that she can’t speak a coherent sentence, can’t act, and has no people skills….I hope Kely gets all of the success that she deserves…..
