Singer Keri Hilson is almost ready to return to the music scene. After an almost five year hiatus, the 32-year old Atlanta native recently revealed plans to release new material this year and in the process take back her life.

“I can’t wait to share the music,” Keri tweeted to fans recently. “Can’t wait to talk about it. Thank you to those who have waited patiently for me to take back my life. I’ll explain it all through the music.”

Keri’s last album, 2010’s “No Boys Allowed” was a modest success and featured the hit single “Pretty Girl Rock.” Keri supported the album with a small club tour both here and overseas in 2011.

Since then the singer has been pretty quiet on the musical front, though she has appeared in two films, 2013’s “Riddick” and 2012’s “Think Like a Man.”

In an interview last year with Billboard, Keri said working on her new music was cathartic and that she was in no hurry to rush the process. “Living life is the best thing you can do when you are a writer. Just experiencing life every day is giving me so much to write about- so much material.”

Along with new music this year, Keri says fans can expect her to launch her first full headlining tour and that new film projects were also on the horizon, as well as possible TV project.

  1. Kudos to her. I’d love to see her in acting roles, even musicals.
