Keri Hilson Up For Best New Artist Grammy

Keri Hilson Grammy Party (3) Keri Hilson is looking to win the R&B/Soul triple crown following the announcement last night of her Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. Earlier this year, Hilson was named Best New Artist at both the BET and Soul Train Awards, and now the singer-songwriter is the only R&B/Soul artist among the Best New Artist Grammy nominees. The singer has also been Grammy nominated for Best Rap/Song Collaboration for “Knock You Down” with Kanye West and Ne-Yo, a track from her gold-certified debut album In A Perfect World.

“In A Perfect World… has made this a perfect year,” said Keri, who co-wrote most of the songs on the album and first made a name for herself behind the scenes as a rare female African-American songwriter. “I feel truly honored and blessed to be included alongside so many talented artists.”

Produced by Timbaland, Polow Da Don, Danja, and others, In A Perfect World… was released in March and debuted #4 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The single “Knock You Down” reached #3 Hot 100 and #1 R&B/Hip-Hop and won the Soul Train Award for Best Collaboration.; “Turnin’ Me On” (featuring Lil Wayne) peaked at #15 Hot 100 and #2 R&B/Hip-Hop. The album also helped Hilson earn a pair of nominations from the American Music Awards–Favorite Female Artist (Soul/R&B) and Soul/R&B Breakthrough Artist.

The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards will be held Sunday, January 31, 2010, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on CBS from 8-11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

  1. I hope she wins but Im sure she’s happy to even be nominated. Now to get off track for a moment, something is different about her face, like around her cheek and mouth area lately I just can’t put my finger on it, or is it just me? Now getting back on track kinda I cant believe Gaga wasn’t nom. for best new artist.

  2. Congrats to her.

I can’t believe Gaga wasn’t nominated either. I also couldn’t believe Maxwell was nominated for Album of the Year…but I digress

  3. keri deserves this she can sing and dance and her cd is hotttttttttttttttttttttttttt she killed it on the soultrain performance

  4. @TIA
No one can not replace the other one. I love Bey and Keri both and wish them the best. But for Keri, In A Perfect World is one of my fav album of 2009, and as a fan who live outside the US, Keri still has a long way to the position you mentioned.

  5. Congrats to Keri, and she looks phenomenal in the pics above! That dress is an adorable compliment to her already beautiful natural feaetures.

To my surprise, she’s actually a fairly strong live performer too, but I don’t really see her replacing anyone–especially B, but I definitely believe both ladies can co-exist and have successful careers of their own merit.

  6. Exactly KOURTNEY why is it so hard that many artist can’t be suyccessful in this world that we live in. It happened in the 90’s but then again that was the 90’s.
