Kerry Washington Inks Two-Year Deal with ABC Studios

Kerry Washington is adding production and development to her ever expanding resume. The Scandal star has inked an overall two-year deal with ABC studios to develop new broadcast, cable and streaming projects for the network and their low-cost boutique subsidiary, ABC Signature.

The first deal under the new pact was HBO’s recent Anita Hill telepic, which starred Kerry and was produced under her recently launch Simpson Street banner.

“I believe strongly in the importance of having a seat at the table, which makes starting this production company thrilling for me,” Kerry told fans via Facebook. “It’s an honor to be at a point in my career when I can help generate projects that are exciting, necessary and truly reflect the world around us. I’m grateful to be on this journey with ABC, a network that remains unparalleled in its commitment to inclusive storytelling.”

Kerry officially joins Ellen Pompeo (Grey’s Anatomy) and Viola Davis (How to Get Away with Murder) who both inked overall deals with ABC last year.

  1. Two years is a short period of time to come up with a viable project. I wish all three ladies luck. Can’t wait to see what Viola comes up with.
