Keyshia Cole Continues To Deliver For BET

Keyshia Cole Keyshia Cole has done it again. The season finale of her BET reality series, The Way It Is, gave the network their highest ratings ever for an original series. More than two million viewers tuned in to the finale to learn the results of a DNA test. After seeing the show last season a man had come forward claiming to possibly be Keyshia’s father. Adding to the drama was a family reunion staged by Keyshia’s manager that brought her entire family together, including two siblings she had only recently met, as well as Keyshia’s foster and biological families. If you missed all the drama, fret not as BET will be re-airing the finale several times over the weekend.

  1. BET is such a gutter network. They will never give a reality show to a Black family that doesn’t portray negative stereotypes that many Whites and Blacks alike, cling too. Jail, drug addiction, out of wedlock baby making, promiscuity, don’t know who my baby daddy is drama. My heaven’s this mess was a disgrace and yet I was not shocked at all to see so many people tuning in to watch it.

  2. I didn’t tune in to see not one show, and had no desire. I wonder how they were showcased or were they just doing shows yall! 🙄

  3. the show was the bomb there was never a dull moment the show was real it was no different then the soaps the soaps are trashy cause they fuck every one on the show is that real hell to the no the show was real everyone can relate cause its some kind of un godly act in all families

  4. I watched all season. People are people whether you are rich or poor white or black. white people have issues and are ghetto too. At least Keisha isn’t pretending to be something she is not. I hate when people think they are better than others. I may not act like Keisha, Frankie and Neffeteria because I had better opportunities and a different support system than they; but by no means will I ever put them down. I HEART black people for real!!!! I not going to speak on black unity and then turn around and call my own people coons or ghetto or low class. Every one is not the same: that is what makes the world go around. I appreciate her opening herself up to her fans, everyone dosen’t possess that courage.

  5. i think keyisha coles show should countiue all year round her show is the realiest 😆 :hifive:  :brownsista:

  6. I really like this show. It’s one of the realist black shows out there and for me it makes me want for Keisha to do well even more. As well has have more respect for her to see how she’s over come and is over coming. Her family too. I just love this show. GOOD JOB BET!

  7. I watched both seasons of the show, and while I cringed sometimes, I’m sure we all do when our families embarass her. But more than anything, I’m know a lot of people can relate to the issues in this family, the drug abuse, the sexual abuse, the break-up of a marriage, bad communication, abortion. One of the reasons why I think there are so many problems in our community is that whether or not our own family experiences are similar to Keyshia’s, we turn a blind eye to it.
Like someone else said, they are people just like us, and they should no be disregarded. Crack hit our community a bit over 20 yrs. ago, this is part of the result. A person shouldn’t be putting down this show, they should watch it, be happy it isn’t worse, and try to gain an understanding. Because there is truly a reason for everything, look in the mirror, or across the fence.

  8. i also agree with mo star and i love me some keyshia even thought i think b.e.t is the devil keyshia and the parkers keep me tune on it

  9. DAMN!! THAT MESSED UP 🙁
I really thought he was sence she look like he from that pic. of his and her’s they showed

  10. Though I watched only a few episodes, I think it was a good show. It shows what Keisha (and I am sure other celebrities) go through to take care of their familes. And that fame doesn’t take the ghetto out of a person or the family. Keisha came across as a strong young lady who is working through her issues and helping her family at the same time. Although, I do agree that there needs to be more diverse portrayals of Blacks, this is a very good show. I rather watch this then the buffoonery on Flavor of Love or I Love New York. :brownsista:

  11.
I hate her show. It looks like ghetto hot trash to me…
I agree. I also agree with Dana. BET is such a gutter network. I saw two episodes of her show and did not turn back. I felt like it was a disgrace and feeds into the stereotypes. I CANNOT stand any ghetto “black” shows, so I choose not to watch them.

  12. I am sure BET will be re-airing the season finale several times over the weekend… Great. More hot ghetto mess to watch…

  13. I really loved keisha show…one of the things that make it stand out from the others is that its real… the pain, the shame and the happiness!!! I love that the family are going to therapy and working on their issues together, yeah, they scream and holler and cry unashamed and I love that…. more black families need to work on issues together in this way!

  14. I might have to catch this show, and i keep forgetting to change my avatar to frankie 😀

  15. I don’t know ….there is something so contrived about this chick Keyshia. Just the fact that she is using her family to get ratings and boost her profile says a lot about her character (or lack thereof).

Why in the world would someone want to air their dirty laundry for millions of people? MOney, Fame, she went platinum as a singer before the show even aired so she didn’t need it to boost her status.

For those that say it’s ghetto well look at the people and look at the lives they had to lead. Quit being so freakin’ uptight and holier than thou, everyone doesn’t have a “Runs House” family. (Which is a great show and family to watch) Her mom and sister both have some serious issues mentally and it’s going to take a lot of love and professional help to work that out. I think she’s doing a good thing and she’s exposing her life to help others. I can’t relate to all of the things she’s been through but I have a lot of respect for her because she is a strong young lady and she’s just trying to make her life and her family’s life better.

Mario (The Singer) also had a special on his mother which aired on MTV about her crack addiction. Both of their stories are remarkable and I applaud them both for not letting life’s challenges steer them away from following their dreams.

Stop the judging because in the end Keyshia is making her dreams come true. You all need to look in the mirror and ask yourself if you’re doing the same thing. :hmph:

  17. Judge not, least ye be judged. What is ghetto? Ghetto knows no color. I tip my hat to Keyshia for having the courage to expose her life this way. I am proud of her, at least she is trying to bring her family from where they were. She is trying. We are so quick to judge, if your life is nothing like hers, be thankful that you did not have to go through what she did. Can you walk in her shoes, I think not, you probably could not fit. I am truly tired of all the “reality” junk that comes on TV now, I don’t even watch them anymore, but there was something about this show that drew me to watch. I could not watch every episode, but the ones I did see, truly touched me. I could relate to a lot of what I saw. I can only say, again, I am proud of Keyshia for her courage, her strength, and the fact that she is succeeding.

I pretty much agree with what you said. Lets be honest… this is REAL life. Hell! Its black life and people can relate to it. We cannot move forward in life, expect to leave the poor and have them not resurface. Keisha is trying to do the best she can for her family and its unfair to say that because she’s black with a dysfunctional upbringing that she is making our community look bad. We were looking bad before then, she just showed the other side to a HUGE problem in America–drug addiction and prision rehabilitation.
regardless of the camera being on the scene to film or not, these events will still happen.

  19. KEY-KEY’S REALITY SHOW PT. 2 THIS TIME AROUND MADE ME SEE HER IN A WHOLE NEW DIFFERENT WAY. I LIKE HOW SHE KEEPS IT REAL AND IS NOT AFRAID TO SHOW YOU WHO SHE IS AND WHO HER FAMILY IS. THEY ALL HAVE SERIOUS ISSUES, BUT KEYSHIA’S SISTER AND HER MOTHER ARE STILL TRYING TO BE STRONG FOR THEMSELVES. BUT I WISH NEFE’ DIDN’T GET AN ABORTION(I CRIED WHEN SHE MADE THAT DECISION) BECAUSE OF WHAT HER BABY’S FATHER DID TO HER. IT IS NOT THE CHILDS FAULT, IT TAKES 2 TO MAKE IT DO WHAT IT DO. AND THAT WAS NOT THE WAY TO DO IT. LIKE THERE MOTHER FRANKIE SAID ” I HAD 7 CHILDREN” EVEN THOUGH SHE MADE THE WRONG DECISION FOR DOING DRUGS, AND PROSTITUTION.SHE HAD ALL HER CHILDREN THOUGH.

IM NOT TRYING TO BE A PREACHER TO ANY ONE. BUT LET’S MAKE WISE DECISIONS AND BUILD STRONG FOUNDATIONS.

  20. :iagree: i know i heard her mom’s and Keisha didn’t want her to have and abortion but it’s her choice.I really hope she’s does keeps it ,like this were not in her shoes.i hope she makes the right decision for her.

  21. Good for Keyshia

It takes a lot of courage to put ALL of your most personal business out there for the world to judge and criticize. I’m sure that at some point this experience will prove to be therapeutic for her and her family :brownsista:

I wouldn’t go so far as saying, “It’s Black Life” because not all black people live the crack addiction/ghetto life. That’s the problem with media. We see so much ghetto mess, linked to black people on TV that we tend to believe that all of us live like that. I am just so sick of ghettos, hoods, drugs and baby daddies. This is getting way ridiculous.

  24. Many people are saying that Keyshia’s show is “real”, but there are also “real” black families out there that are not on drugs, or who live in the hood. It just seems like people look at Run’s House and classify that show as not being “real” because they have a higher quality of living. Maybe more black people should watch Run’s House or any other positive black show to be inspired to do better instead of trying to relate to the “hood.”

As far as judging, I don’t think people on here are judging Keyshia, we all have different opinions. Some like the show, others don’t. I don’t. But that does not mean that I am judging her.

LeAnne made a comment earlier about this being “black life.” How could it just be “black.” You have many different nationalities living like this. You just don’t see it in the media as much. But trust me. It’s there.

  25. I also agree with Layla, this “hood mess” is getting out of control!!! I am so tired of hearing about baby daddies, drugs, whores, pimps, rappers, hip hop, hoods, etc. We need to be pushing education more and see more positive role models on TV who aren’t “cooned” the out.

  26. You guy’s are making a valid point i think they should show more positive side of ‘BLACK FAMILY LIFE” but that’s not reality for a majority of people.Things that
going on in Keisha family it resonates for a lot of folks, who are dealing with the same or similar situations . And their no getting around it “Statistics” shows it in the black community.

I will admit certain episodes made me CRINGE as all get out with all that buffoonery but with that REAL RAW EMOTIONS CAME OUT you couldn’t due nothing but to respect that. Here’s a family who went through a lot of obstacle’s drugs,Rape Abandonment, And many more issues and yet their still trying to make themselves a family.

  27. crack has created many families like this and i applaud keyshia for inviting us inside her family and seeing how you can make it better by getting therapy. So many black folks refuse to seek therapy for themselves and their families, her mother and sister have had a hard life and it will take time to recover from all that they have gone thru. there are no quick fixes for the years of damage that a addict has done to themselves and their kids. Neffe was with frankie during some of the f’d up crack faze days and the results of this is what we see today. Many children of crack addicts have it even worse then this and the schools and jails are seeing the results of this. To those who say they shouldn’t air their dirty laundry i say “why not”!!!! if they can help 1 family get ti together then its worth it. There are many black family’s who should run to the nearest therapy session and stop suffering in silence or refusing to talk about the bad stuff that has happened in their family. too many folks want to sweep stuff under the rug and expect their kids to accept it and heal themselves.

drugs are just not a black problem, with the meth going on now it affect white family’s just like the crack has done to the blacks. If anyone has ever looked at the show “intervention” you will understand what i am talking about. There are innocent kids everyday being affected by drugs and these are the kids that will lead this country one day.

I applaud keyshia and manny for allowing us to peep into their lives and seeing the good and the bad.

  28. i would like to hi five a couple of ppl… i can’t remember them all: taneisha, mo’star, teala, d.lewis-thompson, badgirl 23… and the rest that got past the commercials showing the dirt of the show, but could watch the show for what it really was.

i was turned off by keyshia her first season, but this season i’m such a huge fan!!! she has definitely grown and has shown strength and courage to deal with her fame and family issues. she’s grown so much as a woman. for those of you who tuned it out because of the ridiculous commercials they ran advertising the show, this was definitely about more than a baby daddy and crackhead mama. i applaud the family for working through their issues, seeking therapy and finding ways to get it together. i love keyshia for not creating this image of a goody two shoes, but somone that’s just like one of her fans… a regular girl, who was dealt an interesting hand, but was able to make it some where and accomplish a dream!

i also cried when neffi made the decision to abort the baby and frankie’s plea to her to save the life… i guess frankie wanted to redeem herself at least with the grandkids.. however, i saw another pic of the three (neffi, keyshia and frankie) and neffi had on a nice glam maternity dress with a big belly, so she must not have gone thru with the termination after all!!!

i loved the show and would love to see more. it wasn’t so much about airing dirty laundry, but opening up to the ills that have affected our society, understanding and growth. something looks slightly negative and people turn a blind eye without seeing what’s really going on…. kudos to keyshia and her fam.

i do agree also that a diverse nature should be shown when looking at reality tv. i am a huge fan of run’s house, but while that’s positive to view i like to see situations that eveyone can relate to. BET is really trying to clean up their act a bit… i’m enjoying most of the lineup these days… keyshia coles show, meet the faith, sunday’s best, bet interns, an attempt at a black “the hills”– not my fav but a knockoff of mtv..it’s something in a different direction, Hell Date is a favorite and there’s actually more. I’m looking forward to seeing them improve their lineup! stay tuned!!

  29. KEYSHIA WAS HARDLY ON THE SHOW. SO SHE JUST PUT HER FAMILY BUISNESS ON BLAST, JUST TO GAIN MORE MONEY AND FAME. AND I THOUGHT THAT SHE WAS ACTING LIKE SHE WAS BETTER THAN HER FAMILY JUST BECAUSE SHE GOT A DOLLAR NOW. HER MOTHER IS WHAT YOU CALL TRUE IGNORANCE. SHE WANTS TO BE 21 AGAIN AND AT THE SAME TIME TRY TO RAISE THEM EVEN THOUGH THEY GROWN ALREADY. AND I THINK HER MOTHER HAD FAVORTISM BETWEEN HER AND HER SISTER NEFFIE.

  30. :stop: :hater: I loved keyshia’s family , i hope there will be a season 3.

  31. 🙂 I hope neffe keeps her baby, I wonder who is the baby daddy it’s not her husband. And who would want him after he (husband) have been with her cousin. Now that is trashie :booty: very nasty

  32. I LOVED THIS SHOW :brownsista: ~ KEISHA COLES KEPT IT AS REAL AS SHE COULD SHE COMES FROM DISFUNCTION AND THATS NOT HER FAULT. I COMMEND ALL OF HER FAMILY FOR AT LEAST BEING WILLING TO GO GET HELP WITH THEIR PROBLEMS  , IM SURE THATS MORE THAN THE MOST PEOPLE RICH OR POOR CAN SAY . I WILL SAY THIS IM VERY PROUD OF NEFFIE BECAUSE I KNOW ITS HARD BEING IN LOVE WITH A MAN WHO DOESNT KNOW HOW TO LOVE HER BACK AND MEANWHILE HES FADING YOUR RELATIVE ~ NOT COOL!! SHE DEFINATELY DOESNT NEED KEEP THAT BABY , FOR WHAAAT TO BE YET JUST ANOTHER STASTISTIC WHEN IT COMES TO BEING A SINGLE STRUGGLING MOTHER :noway: NOW FRANKIE …. I PRAY THAT SHE STOPS DRINKING BECAUSE I DONT WANT HER TO RELAPSE WHEN IT COMES TO CRACK ~ SHE HAS TO STAY STRONG FOR HERSELF AND ALL SEVEN OF HER CHILDREN , I PRAY THAT THEIR FAMILY MAKES IT THROUGH ALL THEIR SADNESS TO HAPPINESS, PURE HAPPINESS GOD BLESS KEISHA , I LOVE HOW SHE SAYS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SHOW IM JUST LIKE YOU…… KEEP YALL CHIN UP AND STAY LOVING GOD

  33. what turned me off about Neffie’s husband was when he wouldn’t spend time with his children that he had not seen in a year. If he didn’t want the cameras or Neffie around he should have made an effort to see them before that incident. I think that’s why she was so angry, he dosen’t care about the children. He only cares about being with her cousin. Now that Neffie is pregnant by someone else, that’s his “out” of the marriage and responsibility for his children.

  34. we all have issues we have to deal with when people don’t have a penny they think that a full bank account will solve your issues but it’s not true if it was… trust me it’s not

i’m happy that keyshia “let me in” her life and chosed to work her issues we are all humans even tough some people forget about that when they smell $ keyshia didnt you can tell she love her family and is willing to help them and for that even tough she is one of my favorite singers i’ll stand up and applaud her she is indeed a queen
