When singer Keyshia Cole was asked by a fan via Twitter if she and husband Daniel ‘Boobie’ Gibson would be returning for another season this fall, Keyshia’s answer was blunt and very much to the point: “They haven’t paid us for the first season.”
Unlike Keyshia’s first reality show with the network, ‘Family First’ was taped by Keyshia and her production company and then sold to BET. However, “sold” may not be the right word to use considering no money has exchanged hands.
‘Family First’ debuted in October of 2012 and averaged just over a million viewers per episode. The show was meant to be a promotional vehicle for Keyshia’s ‘Woman to Woman’ album, which was released just over a month later. The season featured eight episodes, each named for a previous song recorded by Keyshia.
