Keyshia Performs At The Hard Rock Hotel

Singer Keyshia Cole is really sitting on top of the world right now. Not only has her latest CD “Just Like You” re-entered the top 10- but her new single “I Remember” has gone to #1 on the R n’ B charts. And if that wasn’t enough, producer Rodney Jerkins, who is back in demand because of his recent work with Janet Jackson, revealed in an interview last week that he will be working with Keyshia on her new album, which is said to have a more pop sound. To top things off, Beyonce apparently will be writing/collaborating with Keyshia on her new album as well.

Not sure how Keyshia’s fans will feel about her more “Pop” sound, but I do look forward to seeing what Rodney has in store for her. I loved Rodney’s original work with Brandy and think many of those songs would fit Keyshia well.

Check out Keyshia below performing at Spirits nightclub at The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino over the weekend.

I know I said I hated the black hair a few weeks ago but I have changed my mind. I’m kinda liking it now and she looks really good and has a happy glow about herself.

  1. She does look happy and pretty in those pics. I hate the tats though

I heard Beyonce was suppose to be writing for Keyshia also and well I don’t know. I’ll have to wait and see what it sounds like. Not sure about Keyshia going pop either.

  2. Beyonce and Keisha!! Be careful B because keisha will tell the truth on you!! So if you are going to come at her like you tried to with a keys, this one ain’t so classy and will but your business in the streets!!! So I am waiting for this!!! It spells Drama!!!

  3. A more pop sound? Why and what for? I’m all for people expanding their musical tastes and talents, but I don’t see pop doing anything for her other than causing people to label her as a “sell-out” so to speak.

Wait…Beyonce is writing for…Keyshia Cole? I could see it the other way around perhaps. Beyonce is a good singer and performer, but her writing isn’t impressive at all and I can’t see her doing some fantastically meaningful or amazing lyrics for Keyshia if she couldn’t do them on her own album. A collaboration could be catchy, but I think Keyshia should put the pen to paper all on her own. I hope Keyshia doesn’t become a puppet, Pull the string and watch her sing! She looks good in the pics though.

  4. It seems Geffen may be trying to push Keyshia as a pop artists which I just can’t see. Her attitude and demeanor are not fit for the pop world. She is too uncouth. Keyshia has no idea how to act or speak or what to say and when to say it. Keyshia needs that old fashion training Motown used to give their artists before they attempt to spring her on the pop world. Oh, and :lol2: to Beyonce writing material for Keyshia. :

  5. POP, what are they thinking. :noway: Thats not what i want for Keyshia. Beyonce makes it work for her because she is a performer. Keyshia is a singer, so let the girl sing.

  6. NOW WHAT THEY HELL MADE THEM THINK “KEYSHIA COLE” AND “POP MUSIC” BELONG IN THE SAME SENTENCE. HOW THE HELL IS SHE GONNA SING POP MUSIC?? I CAN’T EVEN SEE HER GETTING INTO SOMETHING LIKE THAT

  7. Hmmm, I wonder how many words Beyonce will make up in her songs for Keyshia? Thus further bastardizing the English language with her Creole, uneducated trill?

I think the record company is attempting to sustain Keyshia’s R&B by having her branch out even further to a much larger fanbase. Something like what happened with Beyonce. Good luck to her on the new record. I hope the lyrics of what Beyonce writes for her exceed, “I Be Da Lights Dat Keep Da Street On” and further ish she writes.

  8. Good luck to Miss Cole – that dress is cute but I hate those shoes on her.

  9. I could do without the pop sound from Keyshia. I like her soul-ness. We have enough Pop artist already – Bey, Riri, Fergie

  10. Please dont let Kesh go Pop. We love her just the way she is !!!

  11. Keyshia, they are trying to set you up. You are not pop! You are R & B! Does this mean that she will become more glammed up like Beyonce?? I hope not. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

  12. She really does look happy and pretty in the pix. I too, do not agree with the going Pop route-
it’s not Keysh and they {Geffen Records} shouldn’t even try/allow it :hmph: . I think they are trying to rush and push her to the popularity that Mary J now has but they don’t seem to realize that Mary has stayed R&B throughout her career and any Pop success she’s had has not been from her straying from her roots.

  13. I so agree with this statement. It is so obvious they are trying to rush her into the spot it took Mary J. Blige 15 years to get into.Mary didn’t try and become pop it just happened and even now she still isn’t 100% pop. Mary hasn’t watered down her sound at all but that appears to be what they are trying to do with Keyshia. Of course I still wish Keyshia luck but I agree with Stephanie that songs like Brandy used to make would fit Keyshia well. They aren’t too pop or too r-n-b so both audiences can enjoy them. I Remember is huge hit so why change the formula that is working so well for her?

  14. I LOOOOOOOOVE KEYSHIA!! I HAVE ALL HER CDS. HER MUSIC IS SOUL DEEP. BEYONCE’ CAN’T WRITE HER STUFF, CUS WE DONE HEARD KEYSHIA’S STYLE AND WILL RECOGNIZE THE DIFFERENCE. A REAL FAN WILL ANYWAY. AND I DON’T WANT MY GIRL SOUNDING LIKE B. SHE’S TO GUTTER TO BE SOUNDING LIKE BEYONCE’. “GUTTER” MEANING “HOOD” “REAL”(FOR THOSE WHO THINK I’M INSULTING HER) THATS A COMPLIMENT. I DON’T WANT HER TO GET ALL HOLLYWOOD AND FAKE. WE ALL LOVE HER FOR HER HOOD STYLE AND IF IT CHANGES SHE’LL BE FAKE. AND KEYSHIA IS NOT THAT. SO I BELIEVE IT WHEN I SEE IT. THEY TO DIFFERENT FROM ONE ANOTHER.

  15. Artists write for other artists all the time. Ne-Yo does it. R Kelly does it. Babyface does it. So many artists do it. Prince wrote for 13 year old Tevin Campbell and did it well. Beyonce will bring her touch yet prolly keep Keyshia sounding like Keyshia.

  16. I hope they don’t try to change Keyshia into a “pop” artist. She’s fine just the way she is.

I first took notice of her back in 2004 when she sang that song, I Just Want It To Be Over!! I was going through a terrible breakup and I would BLAST that song in my car. Believe it or not, it helped. LOL!!

Also, thank you for keeping things positive on this site. I have stopped visiting some of the other ones because of the mean-spirited site owners. Its like they are on a mission to tear people down to get more “hits” which is kind of sick. Thank you.

  17. Keyshia is kewl, she just a little rough around the edges. Maybe she will give Beyonce some street cred, wait Jay-Z does that. Ok, I don’t understand what the collabo is for then 😐

  18. Damn girl did you see how many people stole these pics off your blog today? Most either didn’t give credit or in the case of Media Takeout removed your watermark and put on their own.

  19. You guys have to remember that pop music today is basically Black or R N B music. Fergie is considered pop but all her music was done by Black hip hop producers. Beyonce is considered pop but her music too is really just Black R N B music that is played on the pop stations.Pop music is no longer Celine Dion. R N B music is pop or POPular music today and Keyshia fits in perfectly with that equation.

  20. She looks pretty… The SHOES! GOT 2 GO! :brownsista:
