Lauren London For Complex Magazine

Lauren London “ATL” actress Lauren London is being featured in the latest issue of Complex Magazine. The actress, who can presently be seen on the new version of Beverly Hills 90210, is doing a bit of promotion for her latest film “Next Day Air”. Sitting down for a quick one-on-one, the actress spoke about the usual: internet rumors, her taste in men, and what plans she has for the future.

We hear your idol is Barbra Streisand. Can’t say we saw that coming.

Lauren London: You think because I’m some little black girl, I can’t love Barbra? [Laughs.] I’m the little half-black, half-Jewish girl who was odd and awkward. I try to be myself. Barbra didn’t look like Vivian Leigh or Lucille Ball: She was Barbra Streisand. She made her own mark.

But you’re probably the only Streisand fan to appear on a Clipse mixtape.

Lauren London: I’ve been knowing Pharrell and them since I was really, really young. They’re like family to me. Pusha is definitely my brother.

It seems you’ve been connected to a number of people in the rap world.

Lauren London: Most of those are rumors! I don’t have a lot of friends; most of the friends I have, I’ve had since high school.

Fair enough.

Lauren London: [Laughs.] So…what were you going to say?

I was just going to ask about the kind of guys you’re attracted to. Are you attracted to rappers? [Laughs.]

Lauren London: [Laughs.] No.

OK, then how do you like your man to dress?

Lauren London: For some odd reason, I like a man in sweatsuits. Obviously, you want your man to look good in a suit, but I like when men look comfortable and the swagger just stands out of that.

And what should this man know before approaching you?

Lauren London: Don’t be thirsty. Be comfortable in your own skin. Don’t mention anything about Hollywood and you’ll be OK. I don’t want to hear about your jet or your car. Be emotionally stable. I’m interested in a guy who’s a lover of God, a lover of music, a lover of poetry, a lover of women—

“Lover of women”—that’s important.

Lauren London: That’s very important!

I’m interested in a guy who’s a lover of God, a lover of music, a lover of poetry, a lover of women

Why is it so important to let us know that you’ re mixed? you think we can’ t see? what was that segment for?Second What the hell you mean “I’m interested in a guy who’s a lover of God, a lover of music, a lover of poetry, a lover of women” ?
The last interview you gave you said you loved thugs, so stop being cute because you had to follow the “half-black,Half-Jewish” footstep, so dang hypocrite

  4. I love Lauren London!!! She looks fab…I love Barabra too, but she’s not my idol. lol

  5. The interviewer is definitely implying that if you`re black you aren`t suppose to like certain genres of music. The tone of the interview concerning her liking Barbara Streisand is nothing more than stereotyping. Barbara Streisand is, both, a great artist and an icon/legend. Just because you`re black doesn`t mean than your taste in music shouldn`t be diversed.

The interviewer would probably die of shock if I was being interviewed because my taste in music is VERY diversed. Here`s some of what`s in my collection:

Michael Jackson, of course, my fav. artist, The Jacksons, Janet Jackson, Prince, Madonna, Shalamar, The Time, Rick James, Kool & The Gang, Diana Ross, Evelyn “Champagne” King, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Blondie, Pat Benatar, Kelly Clarkson, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Guns ‘N’ Roses, Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield, Chrisette Michele, Sara Vaughn, New Edition, Culture Club, Jesse Johnson, Reggae Music, Classical Music, Billy Joel, John Cougar Mellencamp, Atlantic Starr, Sade, Klymaxx, etc. So you see, I defintely don`t fit into the normal stereotype of being black when it comes to my taste in music.

    Concerning internet rumors/lies:

I`m sure she knows she`ll have to deal with those being in her profession. I`ve learned in life that a lie is much more believable than the truth. All someone has to do is make an allegation and it immediately becomes gospel. It doesn`t matter the source, the story, the motive, it take on a life of its`own and it continues to fester. I, for one, see how gullable and naive we are as Americans because we swallow, wholeheartedly, everything the “media” feeds us without analysizing the truthfullness of each story.

The media is very powerful and oftentimes downright malicious for their own agenda. They can make the general public hate someone because of their own bias. We, however, are not astute enough to pick up on this even when it`s so “lucid”.. I, myself, don`t trust the media anymore than I trust The American Government. The problem is we, as Americans, are too lazy to think for ourselves instead of being led around on a leash by the media. Sorry for being so analytical but I just had to get it off my chest.

Anyway, I wish Lauren the best with her career and she very photogenic.

Michael Jackson & The GOLDEN 80s 4 ever!!!

  6. I think some of these women who mention that they’re mixed want us to believe that all of their hair is real….Meagan Good mentions her “indian” side all the time….lol…however we all know better….. 😆

  7. I love these pics of Lauren London. When you have some entertainers saturating the market, it is easy to forget the ones who just do what they do and do a good job of it. But all of her pictures are great and I wish her the best that life has to offer her. And @ smooth criminal, your music interests reflect mine and I live in the 80’s now and forever more. That was real entertainment then and the end of really flamboyant music, hair and dress styles.

  8. I like Lauren, hopefully she will get more roles in Hollywood

  9. @ Smooth Criminal
You clearly came of age in the 80’s. I listened to the same stuff via the show Friday Night Videos on TBS or TNT. Can’t remember which one.

    @Voice
Let’s hope she has turned over a new leaf and want better men. If she was put off by the interviewer she was probably just being sarcastic. Barbara is Jewish so I think she wanted to show she identified with her on a deeper level.

  10. Entirely different from what she said she liked in men in her King mag interview a couple of years back. Hmmm… maybe {hopefully} she has grown far away from that and is being truthful about what she likes in a man now.

    Pix are… umm, okay.

  11. Well I don’t see anything wrong with mentioning mixed heritage. It’s not like she’s lying. Even if it’s obvious. People mention they’re black all the time, and it’s damn obvious. If she embraces her jewish heritage, ain’t nothing wrong with that. Personally those things never bothered me.

As for her tastes in men, maybe she changed, we all do.

  12. Being jewish is a religious and spiritual choice or heritage. Jew is not a race. She should have just said she was white and black.

  13. She shouldn’t having to mention heritage at all… What does it matter; at the end of it all she’s still black. Besides, who in American with yellow, red, or brown skin ain’t mixed anyway?

  14.

    bee you tee full pictures!

i love this girl!!!! keep doing ya thing…

  15. The black and white pics are beautiful!

  16. @ Mo’Star – Thank you cause I’m sitting here like half black/jewish. I Truly had a wtf moment just now :lol2:

I’ve always thought Lauren was a cutie, it’s the dimples but she needs to step her acting game up. And I’m also going to go with that thought of her maturing in what she wants in men because I did read that article in King (I think) magazine where she was talking reckless about wanting a thug.

    Cute pics none the less.

  17. She is so pretty. If the acting thing doesn’t work out she could always model.

  18. Now only if she can embody BABS class and drop that GHETTO persona  of hers that she trying to hide terribly!!!!! until then :noway: am i gonna support her or any sista in hollywood until i see some people keeping it real!!!!! :loser:
