The album will feature covers of several signature Etta songs, including “I Never Meant to Love Him,” It Hurts So Much,” I’d Rather Go Blind” and several original tracks as well.
“I think Etta James sang from real pain, which truly made the blues and soul of her music special. Very few artists are able to convey that sincere pain in their music,” shares Leela.
“In the Spirit of Etta” will feature production from Drew Ramsey and Shannon Sanders, who together and separately have produced hits for John Legend, India Arie and Heather Headley.
Look for the album to drop, according to Leela’s Facebook page, very soon.
