LIVING SINGLE REMAKE

Queen Latifah Says ‘Living Single’ Remake is in the Works

A Living Single remake is reportedly being considered, according to the show’s former co-star and producer, Queen Latifah. While appearing on Thursday night’s episode of Watch What Happens Live, Queen told host, Andy Cohen, the idea of reviving the show is something she’s been “working on,” but that “it’s not quite there yet.” The Star actress went on to say that should the show return to air, she’d like to do it with the original cast, which included, Kim Fields, Kim Coles, and Erika Alexander.

Living Single premiered in 1993 and ran for five seasons on Fox. It was one of the top-rated shows is African American households, and like many black shows (Martin, In Living Color, New York Undercover), helped put the Fox network on the map. It was also the impetus for the mega-smash, Friends.

When former NBC chief, Warren Littlefield, was asked by the press back in 1993 what Fox show he would poach if he could, he replied “Living Single.” A year later Friends made its debut on NBC.
