Lupita Nyong’o Lands Lancôme Deal

Oscar winning actress Lupita Nyong’o is set to become the new face of Lancôme, according to Women’s Wear Daily.

The 31-year old Kenyan (by way of Mexico) beauty broke the news just moments ago, saying “I am truly honored to join Maison Lancôme, a brand with such a prestigious history that I have always loved. I am particularly proud to represent its unique vision for women and the idea that beauty should not be dictated, but should instead be an expression of a woman’s freedom to be herself.”

Since bursting on the scene just over a year ago, Lupita has wowed the fashion community, slaying one red carpet event after another.

According to Lorraine Weisman, WWD’s fashion and beauty editor, it was only a matter of time before cosmetics companies came calling.

Lupita’s ability to move beauty products was proven on Oscar night when she flashed a tube of Clarins HydraQuench Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm, which quickly sold out nationwide.

Lupita’s appearance in Miu Miu’s Spring 2014 campaign has also paid off handsomely; with the fashion house calling the actress’ fashion spread a “rousing success.”

Look for Lancôme commercials and print ads featuring Lupita to begin appearing in September.

  1. Yes!! This is wonderful, a brown/black skin sista with a cosmetics commercial and print ads. I will definitely be checking this out, and hopefully they will put her in “her” best light. Very Happy!

  2. I can’t wait to see Lupita’s new ad for Lancôme she’s a natural beauty!

  3. “Beauty…an expression of a woman’s freedom to be herself.” YES! I’m Loving Lupita Lancome.

  4. I haven’t purchased anything from Lancome in over 30 years. It’ll be interesting to see what products Lupita will promote. Can’t wait for the ads and commercials.
