Tyler Perry’s latest film “Madea’s Big Happy Family” had the weekend’s best per screen average of $11,254, helping it to land the #2 spot at the box office over the Easter weekend. According to Box Office Mojo, ‘Madea’ made an estimated $25.8 million at 2,288 screens nationwide. The film, which stars Isaiah Mustafa, Teyana Taylor, Lauren London and Bow Wow, was the third ‘Madea’ trilogy to have a 20+ million dollar debut, but the lowest overall. “Madea’s Family Reunion” opened with $30 million back in 2006, while 2009’s “Madea Goes to Jail opened with $41 million. Despite the fall off, the film only cost $17 million to make so Lionsgate is probably very pleased and ready to release many more ‘Madea’ themed movies in the future.
