Mary J. Blige Hearts Prince

Singer Mary J. Blige was one of only a handful of R&B artists who played the iHeartRadio Music Festival over the weekend and she did not disappoint during her 45-minute set, bring out 80’s Rock icon Prince to the sound of thunderous applause.

Mary thanked the purple one for joining her, acknowledging how notoriously picky he is about who he collaborates with.

Prince, dressed in canary yellow pants and sporting a new short fro, took up position with Mary’s band while she sang the Chaka Khan classic “Sweet Thing.” The two then performed Sinead O’Connor’s 1990 hit single “Nothing Compares 2 U,” which was written by Prince years earlier for his side-project “The Family.”

Check out their set below.

  1. I agree LINZAY. I stopped watching at about the two minute mark. Their voices don’t mesh well together at all and Mary is still iff on stage. I don’t think she was truly comfortable with Prince.

I saw her perform That’s Why They Call it the Blues with Elton John years ago and they killed it.
