Mary J. Blige Joins ‘The Voice’

Rumors of singer Mary J. Blige possibly joining the upcoming season of American Idol are obviously false. How do we know? Well, according to RollingStone, Mary has already agreed to lend her talents to the upcoming season of “The Voice,” American Idol’s biggest competitor.

Mary will be joining Adam Levine’s team as an advisor, a job the singer says she has been vying for the last two seasons.

“I love Adam, he’s amazing. I’m so happy to finally be working with him and his team,” Mary said. “I’ve been a fan of the show since it aired and Adam brings an authenticity to what he does, which made me anxious to work with him.”

Adam returned the love, saying “I’ve always been a huge fan of Mary J. Blige, so it’s been great having her on The Voice as an adviser to my team.”

Since its premiere in 2010, The Voice has been a hit, rising in the ratings while ‘Idol,” even with the addition of such big names as Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, has continued to languish, eventually losing it’s #1 position to Monday Night Football.

As for who will eventually replace Jennifer, Mariah Carey and Aretha Franklin have been thrown in the mix, with Franklin reportedly lobbying hard for the position.

  1. Who won the first and second season of The Voice? I have no idea. All these shows have had their day. Time to wrap it up now.

  2. I agree. I am tired of all these shows. It’s the same thing. American idol was more than enough and even now no one pays attention to it like they used to and the winners/contestants. It’s too much. I’m tired of all the competition shows. People with talent used to make it without all this crap. I barely watch tv anymore because tv sucks but that’s a whole new rant altogether. Sheesh.
