With a near Twenty year music career under her belt, singer Mary J. Blige is now ready to start weighing her options outside of the business. The R n’ B icon has decided to try her luck in the ever expanding market of celebrity fragrances. However, like everything in the singer’s life and career, Mary has decided to buck the norm and do things her way.
In collaboration with Carol’s daughter, Mary will launch her “My Life” fragrance, aptly named after her 1994 hit album, on July 31st via the Home Shopping Network. This will be the first celebrity fragrance to be launched by both Carol’s Daughter and HSN. The network however said they are thrilled with their collaboration with the singer and planned to leverage all of HSN’s marketing channels, including television, online, mobile, print advertising, public relations, events and direct mail, to assure success of the product.
As for Mary, the singer says “My life is my journey and I’ve always shared it through my music. I can’t wait to share my story with millions of women through HSN.” “Working with Carol’s Daughter on the fragrance has been an amazing experience that I will forever cherish.” A portion of the proceeds of My Life will benefit the Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now (FFAWN). FFAWN was created by Mary and Steve Stoute to help women gain the confidence and skills they need to pursue and realize their goals and dreams.

The bottle is very…bland, but maybe she wanted it that way. The real question is does it smell good.

I love Carol’s Daughter line and vision…and the superstars lending support like Jada and Will, Jayz and others…it’s so positive! Doing HSN is brilliant! It will be wildly successful…HSN don’t take on what hasn’t been market tested with good results and has indication of big sales…Twenty years and Mary’s still going so strong…her management team is doing an excellent job…hubby included…they’re a quiet power couple…I want to check out her sun glasses too, “melodies”…Go Mary, our flye hip hop soul queen!

Big MJB fan and speaking of the ”My LIFE” album I still listen to that album to this day my FAVORITE. ….can’t wait to smell the scent of the fragrance! I’m looking for a Signature perfume that has a everlasting smell to It.
I love myself some Mary J. Her life story is a mirror of mine in the sense of being through some horribly rough times, but still reaching for the universe and achieving great success in the process. I will definitely be buying no matter how it smells because she is giving a portion to help women build their self esteem and be empowered.
