Mary J. Blige Tours On Despite Tax Troubles

Singer Mary J. Blige appears unconcerned about the latest round of tax trouble rumors. The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul was her usual fabulous self as she performed over the weekend before a sold out crowd at the Caesars Circus Maximus Theater in Atlantic City. Mary’s ‘Liberation’ tour with D’ Angelo has been trekking across the country since July of 2012 and is due to wrap up on June 10th before heading overseas later this fall.

Rumors of another tax lien filed against Blige hit the web earlier week. According to RollingStone, documents filed in the state of New Jersey show Blige and her husband/manager Kendu Isaacs owe almost 3.4 million in back taxes for the years 2009, 2010 and 2011.

A representative for the couple said Mary has a new team and is working to “resolve all these issues as quickly as possible.”

  1. She just added on my city for June 21 with Anthony Hamilton. Both of them usually put on a good show so I’m looking forward to it!

  2. I love Mary, she never forgot where she came from and the strength (source) it’s taken for her to survive the industry and herself. I believe she’ll get things taken care of and pay her OWN bills, stop trusting others, even hubby. I love how she’s going on about her business. Silence can be golden! She’s got that queen of hip hop R&B title, documented in documentaries, an awesome music catalog, touring (she’ll always eat), successful brands and QVC success…Mary looks great here and she always stays in her lane!

  3. I hope she is financially stable. So many black artists end up broke after years of making others rich.

  4. Shame on Mary for either trying to get over on the IRS or not managing her money correctly. I do hope she gets this situation worked out soon though, she needs to realise she’ll ALWAYS have money coming in, so no need for the foolishness.

  5. Mary’s husband didn’t flat out deny the tax lien but he did tell a fan via Twitter that they had no idea what was really going on and that folks are quick to believe what they read online without knowing all the facts.

  6. Whats up with these celebs and not paying taxes? Can anyone tell me? I mean, how many more celebs have to get “caught out there” before they start paying attention to their finances. Or are the accountants really the ones to blame? I know these celebs lead very busy lives but ummm to not pay taxes for several years..and never ask any questions?…I just dont get it. Guess you have to be “about that life” to understand….

  7. Mary you better keep your head up and pay them taxes!
