R n’ B icon, Mary J. Blige, is throwing her hat once again into the acting ring. Last appearing in Prison Song, a 2001 film in which she played the mother of rapper Q-Tip, Mary will now take on the starring role in Tyler Perry’s new film, I Can Do Bad All By Myself. Mary will play the role of a nightclub singer/manager, which means we will probably get a few soundtrack singles from the singer as well. Mary will join an already talented line-up, as Oscar nominee Taraji P. Henson and soul diva herself, Gladys Knight, have already been cast.
The film has reportedly already begun shooting and has a Spring 2010 release date.
I love mary but Tyler you out of all people knows how hard it is for actresses and actors out there, Bring some new faces for good sake
Mary cannot act. One look at her commercials should be proof of that. She has a hard time letting go of her hard girl exterior. Hopefully she will have a bit role and not be required to carry the film.
I love Mary J., but I don’t know about this one. I’m with Voice… there’s plenty of good actresses and actors out there looking for movies to be in.
Tyler is in a catch 22. He probably needs the celebs to attract the fans to the movie. Madea can only do so much.

I think Mary will be good in this role. Let’s atleast give her a chance before we tear her down. She may be better than we think. I agree Tyler does need some new story ideas. I think this might be a good picture.
I realize that there are aspiring actors out there who are waiting for an entrepreneur like Tyler to call on them, but he’s gotta think like a millionaire as well. Mary J, Taraji, AND Gladys? This 1-2-3 punch will no doubt get people in the theaters. My interest is definitely piqued!
Plus, you gotta realize that they are going to need supporting actors, so I’m sure there will be still be some fresh faces on this production. I respect Tyler so much for providing a way in for the up and comers, even though his television productions are quite honestly, not that great. I did enjoy “The Family that Preys” as well as “Why Did I Get Married?” and the other Madea movies.

I can’t wait did ya’ll see the play, Mary will be perfect. I’m glad there wasn’t any mention of the same cast he keeps putting in movies, I think these lady’s will do a wonderful job.

Usually, I think TP does a good job selecting actors but sometimes the scripts are too weak for the most skilled actor to overcome.
I’m agree with Kanyade, allow Madea to dominate the movie like the stage shows and it would be fabulous. I thought that was what was suppose to happen in the last movie but OH NO! He had to have this lame storyline with Rudy & Derek Luke. He had Derek crying in the movie made me SO mad….

I read a lot of blogs and the comments when it comes to different things. But what I have realized people that sit here and write bad comments are usually people just mad cause they can’t get off they lazy *** and perform, write, and etc. I honestly think who are yall to say she won’t do a good job. It has been 8 yrs since he first tried acting. And yes there are other actresses out there but its obvious none of them fit the role. so get over it and quit hating. Instead of bringing African Americans down try lifting them up.
