It was indeed a breakthrough for Mary J. Blige as the sista walked away with three of the Grammys for the categories she was nominated in.Beating out such luminaries as Prince and India.Arie, Mary won awards for Best R&B Album, Best Female R&B Performance and Best Song for her hit single “Be Without You”.Not to be totally upstaged, Beyonce also walked away with a Grammy for Best Contemporary R&B album, though her category was not televised live.To see all the winners you can go here and to of course check out pics from the red carpet, live telecast and after parties, you can click over to the next page.

This multiple outfit change was started by Diana Ross in the early 80’s when she hosted the American Music Awards and changed outfits after every commercial.She was called such a diva back then but boy has it caught on.Female artists walk the red carpet in one outfit, perform in another, sit in the audience in another, take pressroom photos in another outfit and then change again for the after party.That is exactly what Mary and Beyonce did.I counted 5 different outfits from Mary alone last night and 4 from Beyonce.All the ladies looked good but the costume changes are really taking the diva thing to the next level.
Mary had the belt thing going all night and looked damn good.Beyonce’s red carpet dress was dull but her performance dress was stunning as was her pressroom dress.Ciara is really upping her feminine look these days and she looks really cute.Toccara always looks cheap because she tries to force her breasts on us every chance she gets.Corrine looks adorable and Rihanna looks great in green.Jennifer and Latifah looked dull to me though.
Mary looked great and brought tears to my eyes with her performance last night. I am so happy for her. Beyonce’s red Carpet dress was ugly and so was her performance dress. :???:(Yuk did tina make it). The dress she wore during the show was nice though. Her performace was short & kind of ocward, maybe she is trying to keep it short & sweet these days. But Gnarles Barkley & Christina Aguilera were great!!! :koolaid:
Rihanna looks great!! But I don’t like Toccara’s dress at all. She needs to change up a bit. I like her though
Why was Beyonce’s song so short, I thought it was just me? It was like a verse the bridge and then she was out. I thoght she was about to do something else and then the nominations came out. Weird but she looked great I just didn’t like the lace wig weave thing on stage, it looked to fake in my opinion and the flower didnt’ match anything. But she’s great. All Day. Pray for her because people are hating on her alot and that can be alot on your mind. Remember she’s still human and a sista.
Yeah Beyonce’s song definitely fell flat because they cut it in half.

Xtina’s mom is white and her dad is hispanic. Her singing last night was inaudible. I didn’t enjoy it at all. Beyonce’s performance was good but short, and she looked sad. Chris Brown stole the show :dance:
I enjoy Mary J’s music on CD, but I don’t think she is good live. She has a lot of pain and passion in her voice and lyrics, but she is not a GREAT singer. I still like her though…:thumbsup:

Finally some people talking sense up in here.Whites used to steal our style but now we just train them like monkeys to imitate us and then go out and sell twice as many records as a Black artist.Case in point, Ginuwine and Justin Timberfake.Justin is a joke who sold out Janet and stole Michael’s entire act.Can he hold a candle to Ginuwines’s singing or dancing? Hell no.But Timbaland put all he had into JT helping him sell over 10 million records world wide.Where is Ginuwine at now? Black writers and producers are practically lining up to give our style over to the Fergies and Britney Spears of the world while Whites do all they can to keep us out of anything they feel is theirs.I.E rock and country music.That Paulo producer actually calls himself “King Of The White Girls” and is proud that he helps give them a “Black Sound”.Eventually all we have we will sell out and Whites will own it totally.Remember, Rock n’ Roll used to be Black music.Elvis and The Beatles stole that but now we just handing it over on a silver platter.By the way, the biggest selling rap artist is history is Eminem and after him The Beastie Boys.Wake up people.
Mary J Blige is excellent live! I have attended her concerts every year that she has performed in the Bay Area and she has never been disappointing and never sounds bad to me. You SUCK for saying that. Hater.
Beyonce in my opinion is over rated. Her make up always looks to light. She actually is looking a little fake. I think the reason why people are on her is because she is always in the lime light. Folks are tired of seeing her, she needs to take a vacation and come back refreshed and with a new album that sounds more like her first one. Cause I bought B-Day and I skipped through half of the songs all of the time.
Toccara is cute and ya’ll need to stop hating, my c cups aren’t as big as hers but trust that I flaunt them every time I get a chance. Latifah always looks like a queen and Jennifer Hudson lost a gang of weight and looks damn good. She wore the dress to show off her figure, so I understood her wardrobe, but at the same time I think she needs to look for designers who compliment her style or go back to chi town and recruit someone with cute designs to make her own signature style. I am so proud of Mary and happy that she is finally getting the recognition that she deserves after 15 years in the business. I think in Beyonce’s case, the drama over Dreamgirls has really taken an affect on her. Unlike Mary who has experienced failure, disappointments and negativity, she can appreciate this. Beyonce has had it easy because of her father and definitely because of her looks everything just falls in her lap so easily. So this Dreamgirls, Jennifer Hudson and Oscar business was a serious wake up call will hopefully help her become more humble.
Personally I can’t stand to hear Mary J. Blige sing ever! I mean Mary used to be my girl back in the day, pre-”No More Drama.” Now all she does is scream and yell and it makes my ears bleed sometimes. She is all over the place hitting Q-minors and Z-sharps. It’s just not pretty. I guess those drugs ripped her voice to shreds.
I also think that Christina Aguilera went a little over-board with her song as well. She was rolling and screaming all over the place. I mean sometimes you need to just keep it simple and sing the song. The girl can sing, I’m not going to take that from her, but she does try a little hard to sound like a “black” singer.

Beyonce’s performance was very boring, her hair was a mess and…that wasn’t her night. She looked sad that she wasn’t the center of attention. Like somebody else said, I think others getting attention over her is getting under her skin.
