Meagan Good Is Today’s Black Woman

Actress Meagan Good, whose latest movie “Jumping the Broom” earned a whopping $15.3 million dollars at the weekend box office, is featured on the June/July cover of Today’s Black Woman magazine.

The 29 year southern California beauty covered a multitude of topics in her interview, including her much blogged about wardrobe choices.

Check out a few excerpts below and don’t forget to look for Meagan’s next movie “Video Girl” opening in an AMC movie theatre near you on April 29th. The film is produced by Meagan’s own Freedom Bridge Entertainment production company and co-stars real life video models Melyssa Ford, Esther Baxter and Angel Lola Luv.

TBW: Is it important for you to communicate your beliefs with what you wear?

Meagan Good: I think there’s a perception of me where I come off as a rebel. I definitely like to hang out and go out to clubs. I seem kind of like a wild child, and in a way I am. But I am also a woman who loves God, and I’m a firm believer in not being judgmental with other people. I am also a believer, as a Christian, going into places other people wouldn’t go because they are too busy judging. It’s about reaching people in dark places.

TBW: Do you see marriage in your future? What are your must-haves in a man?

Meagan Good: I definitely want a family. My criteria for a man: Number one, you just have to be a man of God. That’s at the top of my list, or it’s a no-go. He has to believe in Jesus Christ and really love the Lord. Not someone who just says,“Oh yeah, I’m a Christian,” but someone who is actively trying to live his life that way. Someone who can encourage me and influence me to be a better woman. Nothing means more to me than that.

I believe women are the backbone of relationships and marriages and households. You can’t really have a good man without a good woman. I’m the kind of girl who would sign a prenup in a heartbeat, because I don’t want your money.

  1. Good for Meagan…she’s still around and taking the reigns into her own hands…beautiful it seems from the inside out…it would nice if she teamed up with Smollet and Debbie Morgan for an action thriller or comedy…through her production company…her possibilities are infinite!

  2. Kudos to Meagan. Looking good and doing her thing in Hollyweird where ‘we’ are trying to cull our own niche by way of producing directing and starring.

  3. “I am also a believer, as a Christian, going into places other people wouldn’t go because they are too busy judging. It’s about reaching people in dark places.”

Wait – was this her reasoning for being a club rat? Like where was this excuse when I was a teen and wanting to go parying ?! ‘Ma I’m trying to reach people who are in a dark place! Stop judging!’

Anyways it is awesome that she is being so proactive with her career. We should all definitely support her – I for one am going with a group of girlfriends.

  4. “Someone who can encourage me and influence me to be a better woman. Nothing means more to me than that”

Wow now that right there is where its at. As women we always take these men into our hearts and try to “fix” them and make them better and it ends up tragic. Maybe we should look for someone who will make us better. Someone who will take care of us and treat us like Queens. Ooow I get goosebumps just thinking about that!

  5. A Christian who wears see-thru dresses, tops, and pants?…Hmmmmm interesting……
