So how did Meagan Good’s mid-season replacement ‘Deception’ do in the ratings last night?

Well, according to the latest numbers from Nielsen, the show averaged an overall 4.3 audience share, pulling in 5.63 million viewers in the coveted 18-49 demographic. In its second hour however, the show lost 0.2 in the demographic and 690,000 viewers overall.

Despite the slip up, ‘Deception’ won its 10pm. time slot, fending off tough competition from Castle (ABC) and Hawaii Five-0 (CBS).

Reviews for the show were mixed, but NBC is expected to air all 11 episodes of the show before deciding on whether to renew it for a second season.

Love Meagan’s look? She paired a simple white shirt with pants by Courtney Capretta.

  1. I hope it gets stronger. The show started off slow, but picked up midway. It’s refreshing to see Meag in another role other than just a girlfriend. Looking forward to next week’s episode.

  2. I agree. She was good and I was pleasantly surprised to see how easily she slipped into a whole other kinda of role. I’ll tune in next week. Lets keep this sista on the air. She and Kerry Washington are the female only brown faces leading shows on network television.

  3. Yay for Meagan (and cast) and YES I hope it gets better too. Glad that NBC will air a mini-season at least. 🙂

  4. Not as impressed as some of you are. The show starts off with Detective Joanna Locasto (Meagan) chasing down a dark skin black girl, a criminal, and popping her in the face. This is pure network bullshit. Lacasto and Moreno (Laz Alonzon) don’t sound black to me. I bet any other time we see black and brown faces on this show they will be exactly the same, criminals, dark skin, sending the same ol’ message they always been sending.

I’ll pass on this mess and wait for Gabrielle Union’s Being Mary Jane which got stellar reviews when it previewed at the Black Film Festival last year.

  5. @Dana

Well….Moreno is Spanish and Laz is Latino….so….
I read an interview that said they were looking for a black or Latina female lead for Lacasto so

Wasn’t the Captain black as well?

  6. I enjoyed the pilot.

Sistah, this one of those times where RACE has nothing to do with it. “They don’t song black to me”. Excuse me, what does being black sound like? I find your post somewhat offensive. Maybe you didn’t mean it that way, but if you did, please think about what your typing.

  7. This woman is stunning to me – her style, charisma, and humbleness. I’m wishing “Deception” great success. 🙂

  8. I am soooooo rooting for MG…the show’s writing isn’t great…yet…like “Smash”…I was reading EW and K Mcphee said how you’re not aware of how whack a plot is when filming…so hopefully, the writers and producers will tweak future episodes…MG does a good job in being believable…fitting into the storyline without it feeling forced…Laz is good…it’s building of the story or subplots that need to be tighten…sometimes it takes a few episodes for a series to find its legs…but, I’m watching for sheer ratings!

I try to remember, we’re not stuck in an abyss, we can vote, we can buy good music, support box office receipts, watch shows that promote positive images, along with our guilty pleasures…teach our children, remember from whence we came…still haven’t seen Django…da awful flu…but, I’m really hopefull for 2013 and our collective and individual empowerment!
