Meagan Good’s Vibe Magazine Feature

Actress Meagan Good is featured in the May 2008 edition of Vibe Magazine and dishes the dirt on what it’s like being considered a sex a symbol and why relationships scare her. “I have given [guys] my mom’s number to let her break it to them that I am unavailable. Then you get the crazy random stuff like someone sending me a letter asking me out on a date, and it turns out to be someone my mom dated back in high school.” With the help of her mother, California native Meagan Good has turned a few warm hearts cold. Yet even as throngs of male fans face the reality of the luscious caramel-kissed actress’ relationship with New York Jets running back Thomas Jones, they do have big screen consolation. Good, who solidified her effortlessly sexy disposition as the down-for-whatever chick in 50 Cent’s 2003 video, “21 Questions,” broke out 11 years ago in the critically hailed Eve’s Bayou and followed with memorable turns in Deliver Us From Eva and Stomp The Yard.

The heartbreaker next laughs it up with funnyman Mike Meyers in the romantic comedy The Love Guru, out in June. In Guru, Meagan plays the wife of Romary Malco, a hockey playing husband who feels inadequate about his, er, stick. Relationship expert Meyers attempts to reunite the couple. In real life, however, Meagan admits she’s not the best at taking advice about her own affairs of the heart. “Sometimes, it’s hard for me to just not be afraid, to let go, and trust my instincts. I’m still learning. Maybe mama can help me with that, too?

I agree the picture is gorgeous. The photographer Michael Elins is known for his beautiful fifties pin-up shots of female celebrities. Would love to see more from this shoot. Her shoes are cute too :)

Meagan is fierce and generally looks good in her photos. The article was boring though and only one page. I would have loved to have seen her given a full article and spread in Vibe Vixen.

I agree, the article is not very interesting but the picture is great … And if we don’t see Meagan outside or in club, it is just because she’s currently shooting The Unborn, in Chicago… She will play Romy.

She is beautiful but there is something about her that screams B-list. I-sad but true-can not see black women as A-list celebrities. I don’t think the rest of America or the world cares. More power to her though.

I’ll give Megan Good her props though. Instead of complaining about not getting any roles in Hollywood as being a black american actress, she took matters in her own hands and jump started her own film production company and hire upcoming black men and women who aspire to become you black thespians. I say that’s wonderful however I do want to see her play more diverse roles in the future but I like Megan she is beautiful and talented. Oh yeah the pics look nice.

I realize that Myra Panache and Sandra Rose have recently made an issue of which black celebrities are considered “A” list and “B” list by mainstream Hollywod-but I hope we don’t fall for that. Since when have black folk allowed white Hollywod to pick our stars for us? I think that “A” list and “B” list should be whoever we say they are since we are the ones who patronize their work.

I do understand Myra and Sandra’s point–I just don’t think it is relevant outside of maintream minds.

Well from what I read from other black blogs they do put down Megan for not being an “A” list actress but it is very hard for a black woman actress to reach mainstream because they only one that has done well is Halle. There can only be one black actress that is reigning supreme everyone is beneath them. We tend to play favoritism in our community though lol

Blacks have always fallen victim to what white people say and feel. Many of the blacks who have their name in school history books today reached out to the white audience. Not everyone was as independent and self-loving as you are. I wish we were but that will take time.
