Michelle Williams Heads Back to Broadway

Former Destiny’s Child singer Michelle Williams is set to return to Broadway later this month.

According to Playbill, Williams will be joining the latest national tour of the hit musical ‘Fela!,’ which kicks off its 16 city run in New York on January 29th.

‘Fela!’ tells the story of Nigerian musician and activist Fela Anikulapo Kuti, who died of complications from AIDS in 1997 at the age of 58.

Michelle will reportedly play the role of Isadore, one of Fela’s American lovers.

Previous Broadway stints for Michelle include starring roles in ‘Aida,’ ‘The Color Purple’ and the London (West End) version of ‘Chicago.’

  1. i have never seen her on Broadway but would love to know if anyone has seen her and what you think….. Let me know if anyone has seen her.

  2. I have seen clips of her from when she did Chicago and she was believable. She’s actually quite a good actress and killer vocalist. She’ll do well in this new role.

  3. I wondered too, found a raving review from The Color Purple stint. I caught her with veteran actor Clifton Davis in one of those black televised plays on BET…Michelle is very good!!!…nice comedic timing…the wardrobe was hot too!…Michelle could easily be a style maven or fashionista…she’s more commanding than I once thought…I look forward to seeing her perform on Broadway…and more acting roles! A big singing career may or may not happen, but she has tackled a very tough frontier, “Live Theater”…Broadway…so, kudos to Michelle for this new journey!
