Michelle Williams Hits The Promotional Trail

The Michelle Williams publicity machine is in full effect y’all. Destinys Child’s most underrated member is out to make her musical mark in 2008 and she started this past weekend weekend by giving her first live performances of her new music in her hometown of Chicago and at a small club in New York City. First Michelle hit up the Apple Store on Michigan Avenue (June28th) to perform as well as sign copies of her new single. The next day the singer was off to New York where she performed in front of a small but very lively crowd of well wishers. Michelle gave a great performance of her current single “We Break The Dawn” as well as what is said to be her second single” Hello Heartbreak”.
Michelle’s energy and personality is very infectious. She sista definitely can hold her own on stage.

Good luck Michelle. You are going to need it. Just like her first single, this entire CD is going to fail. I am not trying to be negative, but I have never heard “We Break The Dawn” on the radio stations and now she is releasing her second single.
If that were her bandmate Beyonce, promotion, promotion and more promotion would have been all over the media. Just wait until the end of the year. Beyonce is sitting quiet for now. By the fall of the year, it will be like 2006 all over again with Beyonce overload in singles, music videos and movies.

I like Michelle’s look from head to toe [Slick shoes by the way]. The hair style is fierce, and the outfit is an upgrade from what she’s been wearing lately. Although simple, it hugs her body in all the right place. Makeup & jewlery check. I want her to keep it up, for the way you dress & present yourself makes a big difference. Right now, I’m seeing confidence & I love it. It makes people take notice.
It’s always the same B vs… drama. From what I’ve seen, Michelle is doing great promotion wise. She’s performing her new singles live. She has giving several interviews. She hosted one TV countdown show that I’ve seen so far [Check youtube]. She’s giving several fan updates via video blogs. She’s on red carpet events. Isn’t that what B does when promoting? Actually B does less, for I don’t remember her giving back to back video blog updates/ hosting video countdown show in the past [But I guess it's always B & her families' fault that YOU don't check Michelle & Kelly's craft out] RIGHT…

To Sher - I wasn’t being hateful or spiteful, I was just stating my opinion. I have nothing against Michelle, but I have yet to hear any of her music from her new CD other than what was leaked on the internet. Why, because she is not getting any heavy promotion from her record company.

Michelle doesn’t stand a chance in this country just like Kelly didn’t stand a chance. Radio will never give either of them any play. They gave Letoya play because she was the other “lightskin” girl in the group but Michelle and Kelly didn’t even stand a chance because looks wise they weren’t what the media is selling. Michelle should focus her energies on the overseas market like Kelly did and Kelly even went #1 in the UK.
Michelle gave a great performance and break the dawn could have legs if radio would only play it but they are not. Not ever.

I like that Michelle is trying to do her thing and have a successful career outside of Destiny’s Child. But as we all can see, Matthew Knowles and the production company won’t back her like they do with Beyonce’s projects. Even Solange is getting more press and interviews than poor Michelle.

I hope that Michelle does well w/ her new album. I will probably be one of the 1st to buy it. But I like the majority don’t think that Michelle will get the promotion that she deserves. The only way ppl will know about her singles is if SHE puts foot to pavement & promotes it herself. I have always said that Michelle & Kelly both NEED to get a new manager. We all know where M. Knowles allegiance lies… to his biological/ blood… his daughter, the overexposed one.
Also I saw that someone mentioned that Michelle won’t get much promotion b/c of her skincolor.. for the luv of pete I really wish that Black folks would stop playing the light/dark skin card when it comes to others in the community. Sometimes ppl don’t get things due to CIRCUMSTANCE not their shade of skin in the community. Every time you put any energy into thinking that way you’re only giving the “others” more glory & showing them that they have succeeded in brainwashing us. Michelle isn’t get the promotions b/c she is dark, she’s not get it b/c of bad MANAGEMENT.

What I have heard from Michelle so far doesn’t even warrant promotions. That ish should be shelved. Her vocals are weak at best and to team weak vocals up with bad production/poor lyrics is setting her up for failure. She needs new management, new production and better writers to enhance her vocals and style. Matt Knowles has a one track mind and he is not doing a dang thing to push his other artists or to maximiaze their talents. It kills me that people continue to sign with him. Michelle, shelve this mess and demand better.
