According to industry reports, Janet Jackson will be getting her own ABC TV Special as well. The network will reportedly scrap the November 18th episode of “Eastwick” in favor of the Jackson special, which will air for an hour and possibly include performances of songs to be featured on the singer’s upcoming “Number Ones” album.

  13. I remember as a kid in the late 70’s & 80’s that they use to have specials like this all the time on television. You use to see some great concerts. I am actually looking forward to seeing Jennifer Hudson’s and now Janet’s.

    You are so right, I believe they are doing this b/c music is selling so poorly, and tickets too.

  15. Music will stop selling so poorly if they put some real music out. At the core of our soul is music and after a while we get tired of the foolishness and want some music that soothes the soul. People are going through so much right now and they don’t want to see a bunch of people throwing money and diamonds around. In times like this you want music that will up lift you and give you hope for tomorrow.

  16. It’s great to see Janet back on the scene. I am definitely a fan.

    @Bee
    Music isn’t selling due to illegal downloads and bootleg. WE don’t legally purchase our music or movies and the impact is we have devalued our music. Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry, and Avril Lavigne will still have multiplatinum sales regardless of illegal downloads because the fans will still legally purchase the music via ITUNES, Best Buy or Amazon. No one can present viable record sales from you purchasing music from the corner or a flea market. There is still good music being made in R&B and Hip Hop but African Americans need to support the artists. Estelle, Jill Scott, Chrisette Michelle, and LeToya all have good CDs but the numbers do not reflect we appreciate “GOOD” music. Beyonce and Rihanna have become international stars due to their diverse fanbase. They are not limited to a fanbase that is majority African American. Keyshia Cole is diversifying her music to appeal to a mixture of fans. Mary J. Blige did the same thing and now we see she has a Chevrolet and AT&T commercial endorsement. The problem is WE need to appreciate our artists and their music.

    I agree. People will pay for talent, and downloads do hurt sales, but it boils down to the celebrities, Nothing pisses me off more than buying a CD with 2 or 3 good songs. Then some of these people are so concieted they don’t take the time to rehearse and make their show worth while instead they walk around shopping and to have their pics taken like they are the ish. It is just rediculous what the music biz has come to. Downloads and wack a55 singing is the reason the industry is suffering. People are sick of buying looks and hype.
