Kelly Rowland Likes ‘Kisses Down Below’

KISSES DOWN BELOW - KELLY ROWLAND

Though her ICE single continues to perform relatively well on the R&B charts, singer Kelly Rowland is still forging ahead with plans to release a new single this coming Monday, January 21st.

According to water cooler gossip, Miss Kelly’s new opus will be an uptempo track titled ‘Kisses Down Below,’ and will be billed as the official first single from the singer’s upcoming ‘Year of the Woman’ album.

‘Kisses Down Below,’ judging from the title alone, looks like it will be very much in keeping with the theme of many of Kelly’s singles since she hit it big with her 2011 summer jam ‘Motivation.’

As much as I like Kelly and wish her success, this is not a good look. All of these songs are one dimensional and make it seem as if she’s simply chasing the next ‘Motivation.’

Kelly needs to switch it up a bit. Throw us a love song or urban dance track. Anything would be better than another subliminal sex tune.

Update: Kelly’s single has leaked… no shock there.

  1. Motivation is the only thing Kelly has done that has stuck in the US. She knows that, as do her label and other writers and producers. What are they suppose do? Kelly has tried urban dance (Bump Like This) and Euro Pop (Commander) and none of those sounds worked. Radio shunned them both.

Is what Kelly is doing one dimensional? Yes. But given what radio has gravitated towards, can you blame her for playing it safe and giving the public what they appear to want.

  2. You’re right Dana. I want kelly to be much higher than what she is and has ever been. I like the song its nice.

  3. She has a great voice, and she needs to use it! She had great music now it all sounds the same!

  4. There is a time for everything and her time will come when she will blow up the way her talent deserves. but i don’t like all this sex obsession music. i guess it is my age, too much oversexualized songs are not my cup of tea.

  5. yeah I don’t like this one and I agree its one dimensional. I was cool with motivation and ice but now this?

  6. I agree with the article. I think it’s important to show versatility. On the other hand there is obviously an audience for the type of songs that Kelly has been putting out lately. Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s the type of audience that will gain her widespread or mainstream type of salesj or success. I guess it just depends on what Kelly’s goals are. Maybe she is just looking to fill a certain lane and not necessarily crossover into mainstream status.

  7. This is what music has become for most black female artisist. They did it to themselves. Most of them now can’t come out with out showing this version of them becasue their fan base is not interested. We all on this website for years having been saying this was what was goig to happen and we were right. They pushed one black woman for just about a decade and now even she has to come out half naked on a magazine to get attention.

If we start supporting classy acts and there are plenty out there then we will see class and talent come back.

  8. I’m still waiting for more good, clean, pure love songs from our R&B male and female arists. We have kids listening. And those songs can be classic for the next 20 years……”Down Below”…Ok, a 13 year old girl sings that to a 14 year old boy…
