Want a flawless complexion, but the makeup counter is doing more selling than teaching? I am here with tips to help you navigate the concealer confusion.

Concealer is designed to soften skin blemished by acne, hyper-pigmentation, and scaring.

How to find the perfect concealer?

Ask yourself three questions:

“What is my skin type?” Dry, combination, oily, or sensitive.

“What is my skin’s undertone? “ Yellow, red, olive or combo-color.

“What concealer texture do I want?” Creamy, dry, or fluid.

Once you know have answered these basic questions you are well on your way to finding the perfect concealer.

How to apply concealer for a smooth complexion:

Step 1: Concealer should be applied along and around the eye area. Most artists will suggest that you apply concealer solely under the eye. I agree. In addition, I recommend using a concealer brush to smooth deep pigmentation along the inner and outer corners of the eye. This step will create a clean canvas for eye shadows and highlight skin around the eye.

Step 2: Apply concealer around the nose and along the nasal lobes. This is where the nose meets the face, apply concealer in between the nose and the face to lighten and conceal shadows.

Step 3: Women with deep skin tones often have hyper-pigmentation or unbalanced deep skin around their mouths. Apply concealer along the outer corners of the lips and below the lower lip.
