According to Monica, a new single, video and documentary will all be forthcoming in the new year. “Presenting your body of work to your supporters is a marathon not a sprint,” Monica wrote. “ We’re just getting started. We worked my first album for almost three years.”
Code Red was released December 18 and sold just over 35,000 copies. Monica’s previous offering, 2012’s New Life debuted with 69,000 copies.
Like most R&B artists today, Monica is finding herself spending a lot of time on the road to make up for a lack of radio support. Though her Code Red tour officially kicked off in November, Monica has been traveling the country for almost a year now in an attempt to take her music straight to the people. I assume those travels will be the focus of the Code Red documentary.
If you haven’t already purchased your copy, do give Code Red a listen. It’s a very solid album, with lots of jams that remind me of the singer’s heyday.
