Happy Election Day Brown Sistas. I started not to post today, but then I got an e-mail informing me of another leaked Beyonce track- and I just couldn’t wait an entire day to let you guys hear it. Scared of Lonely, is the latest Beyonce song to become available online and it is produced by Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins. Very much in keeping with the sound of “If I Were A Boy”, Scared Of Lonely is a departure from Beyonce’s bouncy sound and is very acoustic in nature. I’m not completely sold on this new earthy vibe Beyonce is giving off on this album, but I do understand her desire to switch it up after twelve years in the business.

I like it! I really appreciate the lack of special effects on the vocals. However, it does sound like a rough cut and not a final version, with the overlapping vocals.
I didn’t like the clips yesterday and I don’t like this song either. People complain about bouncy Beyonce but I think I like that Beyonce better. All these slow songs sound like reject pop hits. I love slow jams but I want a slow jam from Bey and not this mess they she is dishing out so far. Where is the soul? Where is the flava? Don’t change a formula if it ain’t broke. These songs are BORING.

Not amazed. If your a fan great, but at least dont be biased…..if something is off with your favorite artist its okay to say “I like her, its not a great album but its B”, or something instead of everything she does is masterful, wonderful, and perfect.

I just read the Billboard article that Beyonce has the upcoming cover on and yes Beyonce and camp are trying excuse me, will make this her ‘iconic’ album. The cover title is ‘ i want to be iconic’. Matthew Knowles was quoted as saying they believe that even with the recession they will sell 750,000 to 1 million in the first week. He said they are paying attention to every detail so no angle is missed or uncovered and yes he did say they are targeting other music markets as well. If you think Beyonce mania has just started, according to the article you haven’t seen anything yet. A WorldMusic rep was quoted saying that the promotion of the double-disc will be on the same lines as what large film corporations do for a movie like Harry Potter. They plan for her tour to be even bigger with over 120 dates in a 12 month period. To show you how calculated all this is, a rep also mentioned that the song Video Phone was made in connection with a future 2009 endorsement deal with a major company. The article went on to mention all the promotion that the Sasha Fierce disc will have with the contest and all, then there was the movie promotions. Basically there is so much planned I couldn’t remember it all. So I guess the bottom line is ready or not, like it or not here she comes!!

kenny….i admitted to everyone that the first time i heard the clips i didnt like them and i was unimpressed untill i heard them a few more times…so no im not biased i can easily say that i hated songs like work it out by bee… if i dont like it ill say it…this song scared of lonely is ok to me nothing special i can say that but the rest of the album is AMAZING to me thats my opinion…legend and of course people are going to say how much she isnt a legend…but in my musical taste she is a legend…and to me thats all that matters i feel like she is making her music just for me to enjoy and i like it like that

However, they stay true to her R&B side as well with those tracks. But, every stone has been covered. The reception I’ve heard around the web has been great! She has a lot of endorsements in the work as well according to the article. The song Video Phone is tied into an endorsement, so look for that campaign in 2009. I’m loving Disappear, Diva ( the video is going to be smoking! I can just see it!), Ave Marie, Halo ( off the chains), Radio, IIWAB. This is an exciting time. This album is the truth. You don’t even have to argue this one. The music stands for itself. The girl can sing.

I Love Janet Jackson!!! @ Koko the only reason why Beyonce might sell that much is because of Black friday, her album drops Thanksgiving week. The following week her album sells will drop 75% – 85%. Beyonce doesn’t even have a number 1 hit yet and she has released 2 songs. In the long run she will sell well though.
I like the song. I am not a stan but I can acknowledge that she is a decent artist and engaging performer with a lot of dedicated folks in her camp. Thus far, I prefer her mid-tempo thoughtful songs instead of the rump shakers. Ya’ll should know I am a somewhat of a prude any way. LOL.

I listened to the whole standard edition album and I’m glad I did. Her album is okay. I like Halo, love Disappear and Ave Maria (her voice sounds so beautiful on that song), like Single Ladies (that one grew on me), and love Diva (love the attitude she has on that one). That’s 5 songs out of 11. Not enough for me to buy.
Her album is solely geared towards the pop crowd. She even has a song that is geared towards the techno crowd, which Europe will most likely eat up.
No matter how you feel about the girl…her voice has definitely matured on this album and her vocal range is amazing. She sounds real nice when she’s sings her natural key (isn’t it soprano? I don’t know enough about singing but I know when she sings in a high note, she sounds nice) and stop that damn growling.

What people don’t understand is that Beyoncé is not the kind of artist that is do one thing and she always changes up. People mention DIL as being her best album(I disagree) and that was a very ballad-heavy album. Your typical Contemporary R&B album with some uptempo songs. Show that I am not one particular sound but I can do many different sounds and deliver.” So it is not a surprise that she comes out in left-field and does something that is out of the ordinary for her. It is what she does. She said it best, her sound don’t have a label. That’s what I like. Alicia Keys has her sound, Jazzmine has her sound, Fefe Dobson has hers, and other artists have theirs. So there are different flavas for everyone in the industry. I am just glad Bey is bringing something to the table for contemporary R&B besides what has been out there. Good for her and good for music.
