New Brandy Single “List”

A new track from Brandy has surfaced. As you all know, the singer is hard at work in the studio putting the finishing touches on her fifth studio album and “List” is just the latest in a long line of possible tracks to be featured on that album, that have leaked onto the internet. The single was reportedly written by James Fauntleroy (No Air by Jordin Sparks & Chris Brown) and produced by the Underdogs (Dreamgirls Soundtrack, Usher’s Here I Stand). Take a listen to the new track here and look for Brandy’s new album to be released by her new record label, Epic Records, this fall. The singer is expected to reunite with Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins on the new CD, which I’m sure comes as good news to Brandy’s longtime fans.

The song is classic Brandy, but not singleworthy. I heart Brandy and can’t wait for her album

Waste of time. The single is ok but no matter what Brandy does her time is just up. It is a new day in music and singers from the 90s have had their time and the industry has moved on. that’s just the way it is. Brandy is still talented and no one can take away what she has done, but like I said, the industry has just moved on.

For me the best record is not when you hear a song for the 1st time you love it, I actually love artist like brandy cause as you get use to her song/ album thats when you fall in love; its not always of the bat and I perfer that. Im so excited I cant wait.

Brandy has never had a problem with a single in her life first of all! This is no doubt just an alarm that we need to be looking for her and that she is gonna be current with it when she touches down. The song is classicand could probly be number 9 on the album. I just hope that the label switch doesn’t harm judgement cause she’s one of the only 90’s kids I see being able to do this still. Monic ais up next.

I hope Brandy goes back to her roots and keep the girl next door image. Its weird and disgusting to see her with those skinny *** legs and wide forehead with the huge space between her eyes looking through the screen trying to be sexy when really she looks like the creature on Independence Day.

Why is it that we are so able to throw away people. If Patti, Aretha, or Chake came out with a record we wouldn’t say their time is over the music industry has moved on. And don’t tell Mary that the people from the 90’s can no longer do what they love to do. People like Brandy is exactly what we need. She is someone different and her sound is different. Everyone else sounds exactly alike. Did you see the BET awards with the exception of the Al Green portion with the artisist of the 90’s and Alicia Keys portion with the artisit of the 90’s everyone else had the exact same act. That is the problem. That is why they have too fly thru walls climb down ropes on a stage because when you can’t really sing you have too keep trying to shock people over and over.

Brandy is and always has been beautiful. You have just gotten so use too seeing the weaved up and overly made up women that we have forgotten what a naturally beautiful sister looks like. She is very pretty because her african features are so strong.

Best wishes to Brandy on her new cd. For the person that said “is a new day in music and singers from the 90s have had their time and the industry has moved on”, you need a reality check or a brain scan. Real talent never goes out of style, neither does a legends signature style. Where do you think these new singers/rappers are getting their materials and sound? Its coming from the established artists that took the risk and laid the foundation before them. Everyone from Beyonce to Rihanna to Keyshia Cole is biting off the style of someone that came before them. There is none today with an origianal act or sound. With cutting edge material, any major talent from any era has a chance to win over new audiences like any other. Chile, Free your mind and the rest will follow…

I think the song is ok but not single worthy. If Brandy`s going to release new material she needs to come up with something to separate herself from the other female artists because there`s no innovation in music right now. It`s the same ol`, same ol`. (sigh) The music is the same as well as the stage performances.

“More To Life Than This” by-MJ & Freddy Mercury (formerly of Queen)

Why is this world so full of hate
    People dying everywhere
And we destroy what we create
    People fighting for human rights
But we just go on saying c`est la vie
    So this is life

There must be more to life than killing
A better way for us to survive
What good is life, in the end we all must die
There must be more to life than this

There must be more to life than this
There must be more to life than this
I live and hope for a world filled with love
Then we can all just live in peace
There must be more to life, much more to life
There must be more to life, more to life than this

This is NOT the first single. We don’t even know if it’s gonna be on the album.
It’s just a buzz single. Brandy has tons of songs even HOTTER than this.

I have been a fan of Brandy since “I Wanna Be Down” and the sitcom, Thea. That is and always will be my girl. I don’t care for the single, but I know that she will come correct when her album drops. I will be supporting her. Those of you who are saying that her time is up, please!!! Brandy still has a solid fan base and she is still relevant. I have said it before and I will say it again, there is plenty of room for everybody in this industry.
    @ blacksista,
dang!!! can you try and hold another sista up instead of tearing her down? you are definitely entitled to your opinion, but do you have to be so malicious?
    @ bee
i agree, we do tend to “throw away” people because the public is so fickle and there is always a newer, younger (prettier?) somebody waiting to be the next new “it” girl. however, you can’t replace someone who is still in the game. the media tries to do this all the time…chris brown is the new usher..rihanna is the new beyonce…keyshia cole is the new mary j. blige..the list goes on and on. let’s just keep supporting classy brownsistas who are doing their thing.

Just to clearify I thought Brandy was very pretty when she was younger and heavier (when we didnt pay so much attention to what artist look like–the 90s). Today is a new day and Brandy needs to put on some weight because she looks like an alien. She is up against a host of no-talent bi-racial babes with world wide appeal–without a great look she will not have the “comeback” we are all hoping for.

  22. blacksista said,

    Gravatar IconJuly 5, 2008 at11:55 pm 22 hours, 40 minutes after

Lets face it– most of the regulars here know that I very rarely tear down any sista, but when I think of Brandy and the way she looks now… She looks weird! Its a shame that the way you look is more important than musicianship. Even with my own fustrations on music today I cannot change where things are going. Not everyone looks good skinny and BRAND is one of them!

The singers of the 90s can come back ANYTIME with the right singer. Mariah Carey is still relevant yet everyone said she was over, and so is Mary J yet people said it was a wrap. Usher is from the 90s and he’s still doing his thing. Longevity is about talent, right singles, right timing, right marketing plan. It is that “simple”. Brandy can come back ANYTIME if she has that smash and right people to promote her music, her talent is UNDENIABLE.

I can’t believe how some one could say that Brandy looks like a creature from Independence day movie. Or how she needs to give it a rest because she’s from the 90’s and she’s already had her time. You guys can’t say your truely Brandy fans and say **** like that. I will howeever, agree in some sence that she needs to keep the whole “girl next door look” because she sold millions of records without taking her clothes off or anything like that. But everything else that was completely negative. You guys seem to forget that Brandy’s style was the most original and still is today. So many artists of today look up to her. She is just as old as most of the RnB singers today (probably al ittle bit older). And we must remember what she’s been through. God bless her .. and I’m sorry but **** all you haters! That’s real talk. This is my homie for life! I love her being, her music, and I’ll support anything she does. And she is a BEAUTIFUL BLACK WOMAN!

I think the song is nice…nice to see her back out there doing her thing. Also, I think its great she is switching it up. She can’t continue to do the same thing and be stagnant all her life…I’m all for anyone who believes in change. Brandy isn’t 15 anymore…she has evolved into a beautiful woman. I say she should do what makes her happy and live for her. Much success to her!!!

Wow, this is sad. Brandy, you don’t have to compete with Beyonce, Rihanna and all of those other singers that are getting by on their looks and body to sell their music to the white man. Girl, stick to what made us fall in love with you way back to the “I Wanna Be Down” days. Put some clothes on for goodness sake. You have a young daughter at home.

The music industry has really gone to the dogs to the point where women have to be ***** to get their music played.

How many of you still have the same sound and look you did as a 15 year old. Let this woman grow-up. You cannot expect her too be the same way now that she is almost 30. This woman has been through some things in her life and she can’t be expected to be that same little girl she was when she came out.

I don’t know. I just don’t think Brandy has what it takes to keep up with the new queens of R & B. Her prime has come and gone. True, Aretha, Janet and Mary J can still bring the crowds but their styles were different. Brandy was like a teenie bopper. Now she is trying to bring on the sex appeal. I am not hating, but she just doesn’t have it.
