Both Alicia Keys and Rihanna have new albums coming out within the next few weeks. Alicia’s “Element of Freedom” is due to hit record store shelves on December 1st, while Rihanna’s “Rated R” is due to make it’s debut a week before on November 23rd. Both singers recently debuted new promotional shots for their album as well. Alicia didn’t stray too far from her good girl image, while Rihanna, as expected, took a sharp left turn from her previous looks and debuted a darker more sexual look than many had expected.
Both singers promo shots can be seen below and I personally love them both. Alicia is who she is. She doesn’t need an image to sell her brand of music and so I expected her new promo shots to be subdued and indeed this first one to be released is just that.
Rihanna on the other hand is very much and image driven artist and so her promo shots are used to convey a message as much as her music is. Her newly released image is just fiyah. She took a hairstyle everyone laughed at and made it work for her. She looks amazing. I anxiously look forward to her new images as much as I did those of Janet Jackson with her most recent album and Beyonce with her “I Am… Sasha Fierce” album.
i think rihanna’s promo image driven promo has been on point..the best is her singles picture..wow..that barbwire wrapped around her breasts and eye patch..insipring..i just want to be like her!!! that is def a really good image she has going on…cant wait to see more nakedness and darkness!!!
Akeys looks fab..i am not feeling her new song yet but se looks lovely in vid..it will have to grow on me…i see black and white pics are the new trend..sasha fierce was onto something!!!

Alicia always come up with the music you would sing or listen many years from now, but Rihanna is on the other hand, her songs are always hits of the moment and then blew with the wind. So she really need look and very strong image to gain another hits.
I am not a real fan of both of them but tend to Alicia than Rihanna.
@ Goons you give `HER` way to much credit. Janet Jackson Discipline cover was black and white, along with her photo shoot spread. Janet Jackson had been doing black and white videos since the 80’s (Let’s wait a while) (Rhythm Nation) (Love will never do).
alicia keys is just a pretty face her music cds always suck if she didnt have that look and piano or writing skills she would flop cause her voice is tired

JAZZY, how can you say tha about Alicia, while looking at the same post from Rihanna. Alicia writes and produces her own yit. Rihanna just sings over tracks. Alicia is an artist. Rihanna is just a singer. Also, YOU KNOW Alicia has the better voice. Just sayin….
Very nice for Alicia. Rihanna is trying hard to stay relevant as her music usually dies off quickly.

Love AK music and her image, no one is perfect that why you should not try to be like someone else. Her new song I like, but it doesnt have that soul as previous songs.
What these women share and apart from their physical appeal is their “sensuality”…to be sensual, it makes you sexy, intimate people and this is attractive along with good looks (LeToya or Monica).
You don’t have to be beautiful to be sexy (Lady Gaga), it doesn’t hurt if you are (Beyonce)!
Keys and Rihanna have their niche and fans respond because for one artist, it’s writing skills and musicianship and the other, her edgy look and the songs she perfectly chooses…”Take A Bow”…”Umbrella”…”Disturbia”…where not having top notch vocals didn’t degrade the songs and in the footsteps of super music icons and legends Janet and Madonna.
They both are lovely. I wish them well.

They both suck. Alicia tries to stay relevant with fund-raising/ good girl image, but that will eventually wear itself out especially with the homewrecker bull. I grew tired of Alicia a long time ago the piano playing, and all that does not make you any more special. Alicia’s songs tire out just like Rihanna’s just a bit more slowly. Rihanna? She is just another pop star. Her days are numbered on all ten fingers and toes.
AK is human, i dont care what she do with her personal life, she can do what she want. I like her music, not really feeling this new single though, it sounds like something i already heard from her, the picture is cute and rih picture is cute as well. Congrads to both
