Next: K. Michelle

Haven’t yet heard of singer K. Michelle? Well the Memphis, Tennessee native is hoping to change all of that in 2011. Signed to Jive Records in 2008, the 26 year old songwriter and former Miss FAMU winner, is looking to make her mark on the R n’ B charts with her long delayed debut CD “Pain Medicine.”

The singer’s lead single “Just Can’t Do This” made its debut on BET’s 106 & Park last year and quickly gave the struggling artist a loyal following. Often compared to Mary J. Blige and Keyshia Cole, K., wants fans to know she plans to distinguish herself from the other brood of R n’ B females by simply being herself.

“I grew up listening to country music. I love country music! I love how they tell stories. I write my own music, too. I’m going to lean more toward my big ballads. It’s difficult to get on stage and sing a ballad without any fluff. I know how Whitney made me feel. Even with my urban edge and my street mixtapes I plan on making this a great musical journey for everyone.”

Executive produced by labelmate R. Kelly, “Pain Medicine” is finally set to hit record store shelves ON February 15th.

  1. I like her. She can sing and write really well, and a lot of her songs as actually have a message behind them

  2. @vv brown
Maybe she doesnt feel she needs to sell out on conform to society’s standards of what hot like everyone does. At least nit yet anyway

  3. I like it alot…she has a nice voice..she might be able to get over the wall that so many R&B hopefuls have not. It doesn’t hurt to have R. Kelly producing. Some may not like him anymore but Kells knows R&B and he has produced countless R&B jams not just for himself but others as well. The right promotion and delivery may just work.

Not necessarily “sell out” it just seem like she putting thing out there at we’ve already seen. such as Keyshia Cole. notcomparing them to each other. just seems as to she just giving us more of “the same”.

  5. She is very pretty and her vocal range is nice, But people need to realize that most black people are mentaly enslaved and will never give them a chance.

It’s a well written Piece, we all felt like that before…

  6. @MRS Jones we will see how long it take b4 she starts selling out.

  7. k michelle has what it takes to be a huge star. The girl can sing and makes me feel what she is singing about. If the real music lovers would just stand up and demand great music. The mess that is being accepted these days in music and on our radio aiwaves is ridiculous. For me as a true music lover its about singing and having a voice. Today in the entertainment industry i notice it’s about dancing, whiping your hair, being a heiress, or a groupie. Gossip and being rich has lot to do with what people are accepting as music. Some of the so called singers cant even hold a note but if you can dance or wear nice boots then your popular. For me its about the music, your voice and the delivery of it. K michelle can make it if the real music lovers stand up and start supporting real music again. smh to what we have accepted in our music. So grateful for r kelly people can slam him all kinds of ways and dog him out but the brother brought real music back with the love letter album. If k michelle stays on her grind and have faith and continue to stick close to her mentor, continue to learn from him and keep singing the way she has been she will be a huge star.

  8. What? of course k michelle has what it takes to make it. She is singing and bringing grown folks music to the table. The girl can really, really sing and I am totally impressed with her vocals and the way she makes you fell what she is singing. Real music lovers gotta step up and demand real music again. The mess i am hearing on our airwaves is a joke. jive records need to stop playing and hurry up with k michelle album. Stay on your grind michelle your music is worthy.

  9. Once I initially commented I clicked the “Notify me when new feedback are added” checkbox and now each time a remark is added I get four emails with the same comment. Is there any method you can take away me from that service? Thanks
