Nia Long Nabs Role in ‘Uncle Buck’ Remake

Nia Long is the latest Brown Sista to book a gig this pilot season. According to published reports, the 44-year old actress will join comedian Mike Epps in the ABC remake of the John Candy film “Uncle Buck.”

Nia was last seen in the short-lived WeTV drama “The Divide,” which was unfortunately cancelled after its initial eight episode run last summer. Since then Nia’s been mostly a free agent, with IMDB showing her only upcoming role as that of Jordan in the third iteration of “The Best Man” franchise.

“Uncle Buck” will go into production this summer and make its debut as a mid-season replacement in early January. Should the Will Packer helmed production do well in the ratings, it is expected to be placed alongside the network’s other predominately African-American family comedy “Black-ish, which debuted last season to stellar ratings and stars comedian Anthony Anderson and former “Girlfriends” star Tracee Ellis Ross.

  1. “The Divide” was EVERYTHING. I miss it.

I’m hesitant on this “Uncle Buck” remake. It needs to be funny. It HAS to be. Hopefully.
