Hip-Pop artist Nicki Minaj has teamed up with ABC Family to possibly star in and produce a half-hour comedy about her life growing up in Queens, New York.
The pilot is set to be filmed this winter on location in the borough, which is famous for producing such notable rap acts as Run DMC, LL Cool J, Nas, A Tribe Called Quest and of course Nicki herself.
According to published reports, Nicki will appear in the series, but we don’t really know what that means as of yet. Will she star in the series weekly, or what? Nicki may have answered that question herself when she tweeted this message to fans: “I am now launching a nationwide search for #YoungNicki.”
This is ABC Family after all, so I’m gonna assume this may be something like Everybody Hates Chris. Nicki is hardly rated PG and neither was her life. I think the show will star a young girl around 12, and Nicki will make periodic appearances as random people, ala what Chris Rock did on his show.
Whatever this case, this is a big move for Nicki and we congratulate her.
